I agree. At least he chose to get arrested in a country that has civil rights. I mean, how many times has he been to Sudan to help the people there? At least Clooney is doing something he feels is right. And, it is a good cause.

In a lot of cases you will be in jail 12 -24 hours before you are able to bond out, and in a holding cell with a wide range of criminals. I bet Clooney was not subjected to this and was able to leave fairly quickly.

He spent no time in jail because it was a planned event. Everyone knew ahead of time he would refuse to leave and be cuffed and then released. It's about awareness and it obviously worked since it's been in all the news and people are talking about it here.
This is a relatively common thing with protests. The people get the word out and Johnny Law can say they did their job.
