Wheelchair lifts for swimming pools

Just how bitter, petty, and selfish do you have to be to oppose public access for the handicapped?

Just so you know the handicapped are Americans and pay taxes too. It's not like they're abortion loving, gay, illegal aliens.

They do that any way.

I charge extra for quad swimming instructors that tutor wheel chair gangsters in gun safety. I am thinking of selling water proof guns for protection against anti-gun activists who want to bully me into installing swimming pool ramps and wheelchair lifts.

This could turn into a gold mine, I'm working on a wheel access to volcanoes grant now.

It is not about bitterness at all. Most public pools and pool parks are privately owned as a business. And most of those already provide access for the handicapped. The public is NOT paying taxes on those. The owners are.

If it is a city park pool paid for with tax dollars, then there is a valid reason to provide such services as in-pool ramps and wheel chair lifts.

People seriously need to understand the difference between a tax paid community service and a privately owned business service.

No they're not. It would be a silly business decision for a private business to own and operate a public park. Unless you mean Six Flags.

......Each state governs commercial pools and spas. These pools are usually defined as Class "C" pools or public pools. A Class "C" pool is a commercial pool such as a hotel, condominium, resort, water park, or other privately owned or public pool. These pools must be maintained and operated according to the rules of each state such as The Texas Department of Health and Safety Standards for Pools and Spas.

A pool that does not follow Department of Health standards is in violation of state codes and regulations and must cease operation immediately until the pool has rectified the violation and given authority from the local government agency to reopen the pool. Pool drownings resulting in catastrophic injury or death can be avoided if pool safety guidelines are followed.....

You know I love you, even though you are dumb as a bag of hammers, but why do you keep going on and on about pool regulations that have absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the ADA or the discussion at hand?

Right, because what you typed was really dumb, I would use and emote too.

Or you could explain why that would be a good business venture.

You need to do your homework RoryN. You have no idea what you are talking about. Pick up the phone and ask your local health department about private pools, parks, and water parks that are open to the public. Health Departments control the regulation of these swimming facilities. The same way they control compliance of public safety with restaurants or an other private business open to the public. Also ask them where their locations are. The answer will stun the uninformed.

Public parks and swimming pools located in neighborhoods are not privately owned, dummy. Hotels, resort, water parks, yes. But you keep going on about stuff that no one else is talking about in this discussion.

When you get Drixxx outside of a couple issues, he's a smart poster with a cutting wit.

This thread is awesome. Right from page one, it has the usual suspects plugging their ears and going "Lalalalalalalalala!"

Because businesses will then have to comply with it if such a law is passed. In order to comply with this, as a matter of public safety, these businesses effected will have to comply with Health Department codes under the guidance of NSPF. NSPF is accepted world wide as the organization that ensures aquatic facilities are maintained and operated by qualified, certified persons. NSPF and Health Departments also fall under OSHA compliance requirements And these certified persons are charged with maintaining acceptable safe water clarity, security measures and safe guards, life saving equipment, and what must be done in emergency situations should those rules and regulations fail.

Do you seriously believe ADA is actually going to be the ones to oversee and run these facilities just to ensure ramps and wheelchair lifts are installed in already heavily regulated facilities?

First, the law was passed already. In 1992.
Second, you are yammering on again about some NSPF. Nobody gives a rat's ass about that. We are talking about the Americans with Disabilities Act. So stop saying, NSPF. Just excise it from your thought process.
Third, the ADA isn't a person or agency. It can't oversee or run anything.

I've been worn down to a nub here and think I shall take a nap now.
