Wheelchair lifts for swimming pools

And water, don't forget the water.

This has nothing to do with veterans and everything to do with lawyers.

Don't forget the the epistemology of Altruism!

"If it creates ONE crippled swimmer, it's worth the cost!"

And control. More Democrat big-government control over private citizens and local governments. Yes, started under George HW Bush.

Who wants to bet the lawyers sought out the out the vets for the suit?

One can only hope that sanity will prevail eventually. All I see is thousands of swimming pools being closed as a result of this idiocy.

So you're saying that instead of buying a cheap ramp, cities will just let themselves be sued?

There's no such thing as a cheap ramp, when it's government-mandated.

He didn't say they'd let themselves be sued, he said they'd close the pool.

Wheelchair lifts as a requirement for all public pools is just bullshit. You have any idea how many unsupervised kids and pool partying adults will be using those things as a toy? In most cases, the lifts will become a diving board or a place for folks to dry their towels.

Naw, they'll have a sign saying $250 fine if you don't have a handicapped placard around your neck when you use it, like they have with parking spaces. :D

It is, of course, because of trial lawyers that there are no diving boards in public pools any more.

There would be exactly zero trials. If a city was sued for not putting in a ramp in time they would not let it go to trial. There would be no reason.

There's no requirement for a lift. It can be a simple ramp they drop in there.

A ramp into the shallow end, typically 3' deep, would have to be 36' long and have a level landing no more than 30' along to comply with ramp requirements of the ADA.

They said you had to have two of them.

How much room is left to swim in?

How many wheelchairs are designed to go into the water?

Lt. Dan says you can't swim in a wheel chair...

I lived with him. You know those people lift themselves in and out of the bathtub?

Water adds buoyancy; makes them like a superman... woman... kid...

Can a handicapped vet rollerskate in a buffalo herd?

Okay well your very own blog you linked says you only need one ramp. Where are you getting the second one?

If the ramp is too long then get a lift.

The ADA is which article or amendment of the Constitution, again?

I agree it should not be Federal territory; I've been against it from the start.

The ADA is a compliment to the Civil Rights Act of 1964. You know, that act of congress that had like 80% support from Republicans? Are you calling that unconstitutional now?

Do you really think that civil rights should be a state by state issue???
