States that have been or are considering bills in current legislative sessions include Colorado, Iowa, Georgia, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota and Virgina, according to the NRA.

South Dakota could be the fifth state to join the ranks of permit-less carry states. Lawmakers last week passed a measure allowing anyone 18 and older with a valid state driver's license to carry a concealed weapon, as long as they don't have a background that would otherwise prohibit them from getting a permit. The bill awaits action from Republican Gov. Dennis Daugaard.

"They want a gun in every nook and cranny in society with no permission needed and no background check," Malte said, adding, "This is just a recipe for disaster."

Andrew Arulanandam, policy director for the National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action, which supports these legislative efforts, argues that crime rates are low in four states — Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming — that already allow residents to carry without a permit. "Our viewpoint is, a good person will always be a good person," he said. "They don't need a license to be a good person."

LOL. His stance is stupid and he cites four states where you'd have to actively hunt down a human being just to make contact not an actual state with actual people.

I bet you the crime rate is lower in antartica than its is in China for the same reason.

You are stupid, as gun ownership has risen, that crime rate has fallen. *insert UD rolleyes*

Yeah yeah and if you believe that and that deaths both intentional and accidental have also fallen I got a bridge in Alaska I'd like to sell you. I don't care one way or another about your guns and I own one myself but I make no qualms about the fact that I'm not protecting myself against my government and its ICBMs and F16s, I'm protecting myself from stupid fucks like you.

You do mean legal gun ownership, right?

And, link please.

It's really simple..Common sense & human nature, put yourself in a criminals shoes for just a second...are you going to go purchase a new kick ass weapon running 400 to 3000 bucks and do a mountain of paper work to go rob the 711? NOOOOO notice in this article

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,320383,00.html

top 10 weapons used in crime are cheap ass pieces of shit....most purchased illegally.

The most violent cities in america have the toughest gun laws... Chicago, DC, LA, NYC, SF. The rate of occurrence and casualties of rampage shootings/shooting sprees etc went through the roof after we put "gun free zones" into place.

Time to change the train of thought....because gun free zones don't stop nutters, and restricting otherwise law abiding citizens ability to the point of near impossibility of ownership/carry isn't going to stop the thug who bought his chromed out 9mm with the cereal # filed off for 50 bucks from a guy who knows a guy from doing thug shit. However my 10mm/45/308 will stop the thug from doing thug shit should he attempt thug shit with me.

they need that shit over here in CONNECTICUT haha, we'll be on top of the list in crimes if that ever happen. lol

I hope they legalize it in all major American cities.

That would be fun.

Once it's legal, what will you carry?

This could be a new thread, but I'll start here... what is your favorite carry piece, and why? :D

Yeah, I'll bet the homicide rate declines ... How about $1000 for a small wager.

Everyone knows this is about concealed weapons, right? And that they have to pass a background check?

I hope the anti-gun folks feel better that sane, law-abiding citizens who register their guns and get approved via a background check, are not the ones they have to worry about.

Would your rather face a criminal robbing you or about to kill you with illegal possession of an unregistered or stolen gun? Or would you rather stand close to a legally registered gun toter who is packing heat for protection and could save your life?

Most idiot libs do not realize this has nothing to do with buying a gun.
