It's amazing what Occupy Movement linked with the popularity of social media has wrought. The speed at which information is exchanged bypassing corporate filters has been a game changer in the way the public worldwide responds to corporate and governmental malfeasance. People are making their opinions heard and changing policy almost immediately. A few examples:

Rush Limbaugh's Slutgate scandal. Scores of major advertisers dump Rush in less than a week. The entire right wing radio genre has become toxic.

Bank of America/Major Banks debit card fee scam thwarted.

Netflix splitting of services.

Transvaginal probing of women.

Wisconsin recall.

Ohio anti-union law repeal.

Not since "new Coke" has public opinion been this swift and effective. Social media has accelerated the spreading of news and response. The tipping point has been reached. People are started to realize that change is possible. This is a good thing. Let the ass kicking continue.

Now if we could stop internet racists you could sleep soundly at night.

The occupy movement has three facets here. The policy wonks. The militant destroyers. The homeless looking for safety.

I'm not always in agreement, but I do believe in their freedom to follow their beliefs as long as they don't destroy.

Social media can be a great venue. The problem is that it limits our ability to diversify our exposure. It's more and more difficult to find respectful disagreement with my personal view that can be analyized. Name calling doesn't bring me anywhere close to wanting to hear or read a different view.

It's so polarizing.

And don't forget Solyndra!

Opps

OWS Almost Out Of Money

Another sign that they’re fading into history:

Occupy Wall Street in New York City could run out of cash in a matter of weeks.

A finance report shows the group that galvanized the nationwide movement against economic inequality six months ago had about $45,000 left in its main account.

That’s for the week of March 2. Weekly donations plummeted to about $1,600.

I guess those $700 a night hotel rooms drain the bank account fast. And something — perhaps the cognitive dissonance of leaders staying in hotels while the rank-and-file sleep in tents — seems to have turned off even lefty donors.

Meanwhile, Tea Party events are still going on.

Chalk up another failed attempt by the left to replicate the success of the Tea Party.

It is all fun and games till somebody gets caught posting their penis then everybody gets upset.

Dude. You still don't get. Internet racists don't bother me. They should bother you. You're the one wallowing in it. I'm sure you like to think of yourself as some erudite urbanite but the way you wallow in the racism so comfortably here you're no better than some redneck in his trailer with a rebel flag tacked up on the wall.

That was easy.:D

Everyone bothers me.

Especially little whiny bitches like you.

Occupy Wall Street could go broke within a month

By Elizabeth Flock

Less than a week after it was reported that Occupy Wall Street was on the hunt for an accountant, the reason has become clear — the protesters are nearly broke.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Occupy Wall Street voted Saturday to stop funding new projects because their funds were dwindling. With just $170,000 left in their pockets from the more than $700,000 total raised, Occupy will go broke within a month, accounting volunteer Haywood Carey told the Journal.

The Atlantic Wire reported last week that fewer were donating to the group than ever and that Occupy is “hemorrhaging cash.” They had $190,000 last week.
