Any of you on this board?

Got started kinda late in life with a lot left to learn but I am enjoying it!

I purchased a 2012 Ford SHO last spring and am in the middle of modifying it. Many people don't consider it a true muscle car due to its weight and being a sedan. Those same people are usually the ones getting a good look at my taillights!

So far I have gotten it lowered, sport springs, corsa exhaust and a stage 3 livernois dyno tune.

The only thing I didn't do myself was the tune.

Whatcha driving/modifying/restoring?

Send a private message to eyer. He's a mechanic of some kind and a muscle car type.

It's also a V6 and terms of muscle car only apply to certain 65-71 mid-size/intermediate or big block pony's.

Vetteman might give you some grief for that pussy little engine
He does bite but you can distract him

I'll give you that, it should probably be titled something else.

It may be a 6 but it pumps out more HP than some 8's

I'm glad you're an enthusiast for automobiles.

In my own opinion, a true "muscle car" was one that you could purchase off the show-room floor with a SS or RS factory installed package, and after you broke in the engine, could take the car as-is and race it with every expectation of winning.
You know, the big heavy steel gas-guzzlers with a speedometer that went to 160mph+ , like the '69 Dodge Charger or the '68 Camero.

But then, I'm kinda old-school.

Have fun with your hobby!

Word of advice, Highways in Montana don;t have a daytime speed limit, so far as I've heard. Get your wheels up there and let'er rip!

Haha, my intention wasn't for this to become a dick swinging contest. When I purchased it I needed something that could be a daily driver as well as something I could have fun in. I'm sure he can appreciate that.

You are all correct, it isn't a true MC, I was just trying to start a conversation.

You are correct about the highways, they are few and far between though. I have family in Bozeman, hopefully this summer we can really see what she can do as the limiter/governor no longer exists!

2002 Corvette Z06, set up for road racing. Full T1 suspension, 11:1 forged pistons, AFR 205 heads, headers, 90mm TB, Wilwood 6 piston front calipers, etc, etc. Dyno'd at 425 at the wheels

Turned a 2:31 lap at Sebring in traffic, C5R's were doing it in about 2:00. :D

Wow! That's, well...nice! You guys are a tad outta my league!

Ran a 12.30 @110 last spring, hopefully I get into the 11's this year!

Decades ago I graduated from a rural high school where kids placed a real emphasis on what they were driving. I moved in as a junior, coming from a place where what you drove wasn't such a big deal among my circle of friends. I had some kind of clunky Plymouth with a push button transmission. Seriously.
At my school there was a new Duster and a new Camaro and a two-year old GTO, but I thought the best cars were a pitch black Chevelles, or maybe they were Malibus. I forget. Two classmates had them. One was a '67, the other a '68.
The emphasis on cars wasn't necessarily a good thing. Though I think my class is still largely intact, fatal car accidents among that group of kids I finished high school with probably exceeded the national average.
I knew one guy who was hellbent on dying in a car accident after his older brother did. It took him a few tries, but he finally succeeded.

My first car (in 1996) was a 1970 Plymouth Duster that my dad and I rebuilt, we dropped a 426 Hemi in it. Sweet car. I wish now, looking back that we had gone with rebuilding a Barracuda but oh well.

Damn good times for an SHO sedan w/o major mods!

Thanks, although the wind was purring that day if I remember correctly, gonna make sure I hit the track on a calm day this year.

I have a methanol injection kit also, forgot to mention that. Those guys at livernois sure know how to squeeze power from an engine, great outfit!

Now if you just read my name, what would you guess I am into other than being a pervert?

gave up my toys long ago, but helping the next generation build his toy. mostly work on tractors & other farm equip these days, but I am one good sniff of racing gas away from a total relapse into the world of turning right to go left.

And nuttin wrong with an SHO. But I did like the first ones with the Yamaha V6 and square body better.

Back in the early 80's I was in the National Guard. My CO showed up one drill weekend in a US Army pool car, a 1967 Ford 4 door Galaxy. We had to go from our Detachment to Fort Lewis. He told me he had been up all night and I had to drive. When I pulled out on the highway I gave it some throttle and found myself sideways in the road with both rear tires spinning. I pulled over at the next wide spot and popped the hood to find a 750 Holly 4 barrel sitting atop a 427. Back in the 60's they had to sell a given number of engines to the public to be able to run them on the track as a stock car.

I tried like hell to keep track of that car. I wanted to buy it when they auctioned it off. I lost track of it a couple of years later.

I am a total petrol head. Even my daily driver is a V8 from the 1970's. I do most of my own work and usually have at least one project that I am restoring on the go.

I hate it when people bolt a couple of after market parts on a car and then say that its been modified *sigh* and you ask what they have done to it and they say added new wheels and added a spoiler.

I have drag raced and also raced at the speedway however I just don't have the time for those anymore so just do the odd Demolition Derby.

My daily drive is a 25 yr old Ford XF, with a 351 Windsor. Running 9inch gear, with 31 spline diff, mendelbent 3inch exhausts. She has a cast iron gearbox, a 4 speed Horst shift. The Windsor has been modified to be fuel injected, and has been bored to 30 thou over.
Symmonds rims off Alan Moffatts car, 19 on the rear and 18 inch on the front.
Last dyno was 427 at the rear.
Thinking about putting a supercharger on next.

Currently doing up a V6 XD wagon and a 1989 Ford LTD.
Also in the wings is an XB coupe... ex-Bathurst racecar.

I have a Charger with Hemi engine. I've had guys roll down their windows at stop lights to talk to me about my car. :D

Very Nice Warrior. I love the honeycomb grille on the XB. I used to have a XA GT Coupe with a 351 and a one owner totally original XA Fairmont Coupe with a 302. My favourite would would have to be an XC Ute with a 460 Big Block which I gave a cobra paint job, the bonnet scoop and the twin headlight grille. Couldn't put on power steering as there was no room so was a real cow to park.

The XB is actually an XC - check the Bathurst race history :)
This car was 'lost'. We got offered it out of the blue. It's a super-famous car from history. We have done all the research, including checking with the driver and checking the JG sale history at Ford (remembering that race cars were gifted, not sold, meaning there is no sale history on a genuine race car) so this particular car might be a very rare find indeed!
The driver of this particular car told us to 'buy it at all costs', and we have been offered a partnership in purchase from none other than Mr Bowe!
This is our dream car :D

Guy swapped his fairlane for my lexus ls400 I would have kept his car if it had been a V8. I wasn't interested in a 4 litre straight six

I grew up loving the old school SHO'S and when they decided to bring em back I couldn't pass it up. Very happy with the car, the brakes being my only issue...Too damn small!

Awesome, that's a nice ride! I was looking at the Charger as well as a couple others with a little extra oompf. The size of the cabin and me sorta already being in love with the SHO since I was young sealed the deal.

How has your experience been with it?

So far, so good. It's just over 4 years old and I've not had any problems with it at all. It's a fun car to drive! I guess speeding tickets is the biggest worry. I've been lucky and only got one so far.

I take it back, I did have a repair on it once. Had to have it towed in when something broke on the front left wheel.
