From here:
A pre-dawn twister flattened entire blocks of homes in a small Illinois town Wednesday as violent storms ravaged the Midwest and South, killing at least 12 people in three states.

 Can the midwest and southern folk check in please? Let us know you weren't ravished by a twister?

Thoughts go out to SweetSubSarahh. she doesn't post here anymore, but that doesn't mean we don't remember her.

I heard one of them was four hundred yards wide at the base.

I think I'm at the bottom tail end of tornado alley (there haven't been any major ones in my area in decades) but my thoughts go out to those who are in the blast zone. It's not even the right season for them, but with the weather acting the way it has been lately there's no telling. :(

Your name cracks me up!

I live about 40 miles from Harrisburg. We didn't get hit by the storm, but there's another severe weather system forecasted for Friday afternoon.

#3 on my "I would never live in the Midwest" list. (Not that I haven't had a couple of tornadoes go by in Virginia too.)

Bumping this to ask everyone to check in again. There were supposed to be more storms today, yes?

Marysville is gone

 Holy Crap! from here.

Powerful storms stretching from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes flattened buildings in several states, wrecked a small Indiana town and bred anxiety across a wide swath of the country in the second powerful tornado outbreak this week. Widespread damage was reported in southern Indiana, where Clark County Sheriff's Department Maj. Chuck Adams said the town of Marysville is "completely gone."

Um, will everyone from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes please check in? Unless you're now in Oz, in which case, pm Glynndah.

checking in....we're all fine. I think most of it is going north of me this time, thank goodness. All we've had so far is a little bit of wind and a few drops of rain.

Thanks for checking in, Cloudy! Word is Alabama was on of those hard-hit states though it seems Indiana got the real clobbering. Good to hear you're all safe. I hope that includes the dogs? :cattail:
