What is a Dekopon? It is a Japanese Tangerine of amazing sweetness and deliciousness. It looks like this:

Here in the U.S. we call them "Sumos" (here is an article on Sumos) They are now in season and can be bought at Whole Foods Markets and other up-scale type stores--at least in California. I don't know if they're starting to ship Sumos elsewhere.

Won't you join me in celebrating this most wonderful fruit? If you can't find a Dekopon, a regular tangerine will do

I have navel oranges that are pink inside like grapefruit-- will that do?

(I have never seen pink-fleshed oranges before!)

I see something like that in Safeway and other stores all the time. They're called "cuties," although that might be a brand name. They are very tasty, easy to peel and almost seedless.

Nope, not the same Cuties are Mandarins and Clementines. Sumos are completely seedless, larger, sweeter and juicer. Check out a Whole Foods or Gelsons.
