Regrets after giving a 5* for a teaser

I've just given 5* to a story, looked at the author's profile and realised it was a 'teaser'/'promo', i.e. I'd have to buy the rest of the story from Amazon.

Bit pissed off about it actually. After reporting the story, is anything likely to be done? It doesn't appear to be the only one on this author's list of submissions.

(If there's another name by which these stories are called and a longer thread discussing them, I'll happily delete this one. I tried searching but 'teaser', 'promo' and 'advertising' brings up thousands of results. Especially 'teaser'.;))

You could report this via a PM to Laurel. I'm not sure you're allowed to do this. I actually did something like this myself a couple of years ago, not realizing it was against the rules. I don't think anyone reported it, and I tried to make it all clear, but I took it down and won't do it again.

If the story given here is a complete story, there's nothing wrong with having an expansion--or a follow-on extension of the story for sale. Or noted as such here, I don't think.

You're getting a free, complete story here.

Hi, they're definitely not a complete stories. I think they're just the first chapters or prologues, and end abruptly.

If I'd figured out beforehand they were teasers, I wouldn't have read them or borne that in mind.

OK, that explains it, then.

I think I read that story at the time and grumbled to myself a bit at the end.;)

I've never noticed, does Amazon have the rule Smashwords does, that it has to be a "start to finish" story, or at least be listed as "Book one..."?
