There are a whopping 3 gas stations in Florida charging these prices...the two closest gas stations to the rental-car return at Orlando MCO airport, and the gas station right outside of Walt Disney World main gate.

Location, location, location, etc.

The magic of Ayn Rand at work.

The overall average in Florida is $3.67 per gallon, 12 cents higher than the US average....due to the fact that Florida has no state income tax, and relies on tourist dollars to fund itself.

So, please.

kthxbye!

What I find strange about this is that I've been to at least two of those stations (maybe all 3) and I don't recall the prices being that much higher than everyone else. Higher, yes but not 2 bucks higher. I'd notice that. Not sure why they're that high now. It's sorta dumb even for those locations.

Well... We're not looking at the prices at those stations. We're looking at what a single person said the prices were. That site gets all its price info from anonymous internet people.

If you want I can make an account there and show the world how they're selling 97-cent gas.

The conservative measure of inflation isn't the inflation rate because that inconveniently shows that the rate is normal. The REAL indicator of inflation is potato chips.

Even though they cost $1.98 for an 11.5 oz bag at Wal-Mart.

As opposed to the Obama administration's measure of inflation which resulted in zero until they began to realize that not everyone outside the White House is a moron?

No, as opposed to the Consumer Price Index maintained by the BLS. The rate of inflation isn't tracked by potato chip prices on porn boards.

He's quoting Gas Buddy. It's an iPhone app. I use it too. If someone plugs in screwy values, the next person who comes along gets points for updating the "correct" price.

It's sorta like Wikipedia.

Let's see what the CPI for food looks like. That way we can make sure that food is really skyrocketing in price.

July: .6%
August: .6%
September: .6%
October: .2%
November: 0%
December: .2%
January: 0%

That's a remarkable upward trend. It's just SCARY how fast food prices are skyrocketing. Well 0% increases seems to scare the piss out of Vette anyway.

Obama offers apology today to Muslims over Koran burning.

Sorry America, The man is weak as water.

Looking forward to reading the transcripts of his upcoming speech today to gain his re-election. His only concern is himself... not you.

And Willard and Newt and Dick are in it for me?

And a person should be happy about the CPI for food going up when their COLA doesn't because...?

Before you answer, I would like to remind you that a fact within the fact you just posted is that the CPI for food is a CPI for a necessity.

You left this out;

The index for
"energy has risen 6.1 percent over the last year and the food index
4.4 percent;"

Yeah these items had some months with significant numbers back in the spring of 2010. You should have bitched about them then. Now you just look stupid.

Energy price index:

July:.9%
Aug: .8%
Sept: 1.5%
Oct: -1.8%
Nov: -.5%
Dec: -1.3%
Jan: .2%

You're making a preposterous argument. Nobody is suggesting that prices should never change. And COLA will go up again in the future at some point.

Oh golly gee wollickers, whatever could it mean when a CPI for something outpaces inflation? Oh, I remember now:

Less purchasing power.

I'm not making the argument you think I'm making, because I know that basically 2% of so-called growth is required just for maintenance.

The argument I'm making is that in the way that really counts (the money itself, or rather lack thereof) the administration said there was no inflation, which by your own admission is a lie.

Seriously?

This from RDS's post, below

Have you ever been to Orlando Airport? It's surrounded on three sides by the Boggy Creek Wetlands Area, which is swampland.

Have you been there since 2009? There used to be a third gas station right outside of MCO, a Circle K store. Circle K had average prices, which basically kept the Sun Energy gougers in check. Circle K went out of business, and that's when Sun went through the roof.

They're your numbers. But hey you see the trend right?

Had you attended an accredited college, you might have learned that energy prices outpace inflation immediately following a recession, in the first stages of an economic recovery. I'll use simple terms that even you have a chance of understanding: more people going to work equals an uptick in gasoline usage (people travelling to/from jobs) which puts an upward price pressure on gas. This is usually transient (that means "temporary") as the market eventually balances itself with increased refinery production.

Of course, jackwagons like you still want to desperately claim there is no economic recovery under the nigger president, so you'll deny any and all evidence to the contrary.

I didn't see Obama saying there is no inflation. Do you have a quote?

Seriously?

Yes seriously. COLA is not frozen for eternity.

Every analyst out there is saying the rising oil prices is due to the tension with Iran.
Easy fix...drop the Iranian sanctions and let them have their nukes.

All Republicans can do is look and look for something to complain about. 3 months ago is was about the economy. Now that all the indicators are saying the same thing...gotta find something new to bitch about. Hey, it worked against Jimmy Carter.

Yahoo maps shows those cherry picked high-cost gas stations to be located out in the swamp outside of town. No competition for miles so they gouge customers.

Stop saying swamp gas station prices represent the norm, ass.

Most likely the gas stations near the airport. There are a couple there that charge crazy prices.

Ha. Guess I should have kept reading before I replied. All airports have a few crazy stations trying to make a fortune from the tourists that don't know any better and don't fill up before they get close to the airport.
