I had my child out of wedlock, I chose not to marry her father

So anyway, that's cool.

Does it piss you off when women are proud of getting pregnant?

It doesn't piss me off but they just have no clue how much responsibility it takes. I have given that child everything I have. I cant even imagine having 2 or 3 kids and being single.

Heh. I love how they attack without knowing a thing. Why don't they attack Cookie and call her a poverty princess and put her on iggy? Not her fault she's a single mom. Not mine either. Even if by choice, why attack? Why are you so threatened by the notion?

Setting the record straight, and my situation represents a lot of single, divorced mothers. College educated. Never unemployed, 20 years. Homeowner.

And both of you are on LIT cuz its a slow day at work, right?

Youre the Ideal.

I'm surprised that you still use the S-word.

AS it turned out, she is my only child.

Say what you may about single mothers in this country, I am blessed 1000 times over to have had that child. She was the best thing that ever happened to me. I gave birth to her and decided I didn't need her father so much after that. I was in love with my child.

She is in college now, a successful student. She is also in a sorority based on helping others in her community and over spring break, will be working with Habitat for Humanity and building houses for lower income families. She is a Social Work major.

and just as I type this, I get a text from her, wanting money. LOL :D

Smiles

You're a beautiful woman and a wonderful mother. Let the haters hate and keep on doin' you.

Take a good long look in the mirror baby, before swatting down someone for being on Lit.

I been around a long time and seen most of the combinations and permutations of parenting, and my guess is you collect disability for a mental disorder and prolly connected with a guy from day treatment. The father lives in an ACLF, Right?

I pride myself on being a successful single mother as well. I happen to love my baby daddy but I couldn't live with him. I have one of those evolved co-parenting relationships with him. He provides for the kids. I provide for the kids. We make decisions together.

My kids are exposed to volunteering and art through me. Racing and camping through him. We both expose them to nature, to family and responsibility. There is no one right way to raise children.

Other than JBJ should never be exposed to them.

Fine job ladies. Well as long as Wings left out the parking garage instructions.:)

Hells yeah. I am sitting here drinking espresso right now, was just shooting the breeze with my boss. I work a flex schedule. Usually about 50ish a week, or up to 60 if we are working on something big. My phone, VPN and work laptop give me flexibility and a portable office. But you probably haven't worked in a few decades, so what would you know about the modern office environment? Or do you have a day job?

I'm retired. Triple-dipper.

This. It is exhausting, agreed. Having just one amazing boy and being at a disadvantage because he's a boy and I lack the right parts to be a complete parent (yes, that's right boys NEED male influence), I have gone to great and exhaustive lengths to get him involved in activities to ensure he has access to male role models. It means working late into the night and working weekends so I can shuttle him to those activities, but it is well worth the payoff. A single parent can be a good parent if she (or he) is resourceful. I don't recommend it for anyone, though.

Nobody should have kids if they cannot afford them or if they lack the focus and ability to do what it takes to raise a child properly. It is a tiring job when done well.

Mama says you know you're doing a good job parenting when you're more willing to go to bed at 10pm than go out. When you're exhausted, you're doing it right.

I'm so glad you choose to remain a single mom rather than have your daughter and you both suffer through as loveless marriage. I did the same thing when I was 17, and I've never regretted it. My son just turned 10, and he's amazing :) His father never wanted to be part of his life, and never intended to help me support him. I don't mind though. We're both very happy.

Hugs for you and your daughter :rose:

Actually, my Baby Daddy is USPS.:D

Going out??? What is that?? Ha. I am blessed, through with two very involved grandmas who love him and allow me the occasional night out. Those nights are rare. I am blessed to have an enormous family and I have developed a broad parent network to help raise him well.

CAPITALSJOHNSON will now tell us an anecdote about how he raised fifteen kids on his own and they all turned out to be Nobel prize winning, Olympic gold medal winning paragons of society.

I love it most when he regales us with stories of what his daughter calls his son in law. Klassy.

I've had him on ignore for so long, I don't know what you're talking about. I guess I never clicked on the show post at the right time.

So I expect a post explaining this. Stat.
