I just watched them testing a 787 engine.

They "explosively detach a blade at full take off speed into the casing".

Coolest thing I've ever seen.

I'm about 50 miles from Derby, so no worries.

They build a large portion of the 787 here, but it is the fuselage...biggest plant I have ever seen...I have done some of the work over there on the construction, but didn't do the big plant...I want to go take a photo tour but they say not no but FUCK NO...fuckers...
Would love to see the engine plant...

Rolls Royce Aviation have a massive place in Derby and there's a documentary on the telly. Cool stuff.
