Hi and welcome to the AH!

Possibly, without having read your work (please put a link to your stories in your sig line so we can enjoy!) I would suggest switching the point of view to the female character. Let her tell her side of the story.

Hope this helps and have fun here!

Hi RME...maybe writing about emotions if you don't already.

Hiya Rocky. Welcome to the AH. :D

My take on answering your question is this: In the main, men and women look at sex differently. Guys like to fuck, women like to make love. Guys wanna roll over and go to sleep, women want to cuddle. Guys can do it any old time, women need to be in the mood and romanced. A guy chases a woman until she catches him. Fantasies are just that, fantasies. Willing women with huge breasts and insatiable sex drives are pretty much a guy's fantasy, not a woman's.

Don't portray your women as living inflatable sex dolls; they're people. Women enjoy sex fantasies too, just with more caring, depth and a little tenderness. ;)

Good luck with your writing.

If you have strong guy fantasies, is there a particular reason you want to water them down to try to cover a woman's fantasy in the same story too? I'm sure there's a big readership here for something more than "trying to cover all bases" pablum.

Hi, Rocky, and welcome to Lit. and the AH. I try to write female friendly stories too, but not in the way TE999 does. I almost always describe the woman enjoying the sexual encounters as much as the man does, and achieving great orgasms. Of course, that is something men like to imagine themselves doing too.

I get quite a bit of feedback from women telling me they enjoy my stories and get turned on by them, so I figure I must be doing something right. :D

The key, (in my humble opinion, as a woman) Is to make sure that the woman reacts to situations because of her own wants, desires, and motivations. You can write a story that is unfair to women from the woman's point of view. If anything, it makes it easier write a stereotype. When men write porn, you see what they want in their women, when women write porn, you see what they want in their men.

So make sure that with each scene, that your women are doing what they want to do, and aren't just fleshy animatronics to play out the male fantasy.

And if you are going to try FF, get some experience first.

I'm going to agree with this. depending on how well youwrite, it maywell be better to concentrate on your strongest points .

When men write porn, you see what they want in their women, when women write porn, you see what they want in their men.
Uh, not necessarily.

When women write porn, you see what they want for themselves. The same way you see when men write porn.

All good points, so far. I would add that, if you are new to writing, write what you know best to begin with. There is a lot to writing a good story that has nothing to do with whether it's male or female friendly, and you'll stand a better chance of learning how to be a better writer if you stay in your comfort zone early on. When your writing improves and you're more comfortable, then you can begin to explore other areas or points of view. It also helps to read, read, read. Take what you like about stories you've read and use those as a guide to your own writing. Find two stories with a similar theme, one you like and one you don't. Compare them to see what it is about each that makes you feel that way. It's also helpful to do writing exercises. There's plenty here on Lit, and tons of sites elsewhere. Explore and enjoy. And best of luck to you! I look forward to reading your submissions. :)

I don't like to disagree with Stella, but I think writers of either sex are more complex than that. Some of us try to write what we think other people will appreciate without necessarily wanting what we write for ourselves.

Writing your own fantasies is a good way to start, but writing for someone else's fantasy and fulfilling it is even better.

But I still haven't completed my story about South Indian Women's Hairy and Sweaty Armpits. That seems to be the fantasy too far.

thank you all

Thank you all for your replies. I do not have very strong gay fantasies as such, but I have fantasized about what it is like to be a woman so I'll try adding some items from that perspective. I'll also take some time to modify my profile so my stories show up.

To get a better sense of how a woman might appreciate your writing better, try remembering how your own GF's or wife react to things and how they feel in situations. I tend to think like a woman as much as I can, from all my resources and write from a perspective they can relate to. I don't always get it right, but I get closer each time and as Box said, female readers have replied with good reviews and enjoy the story. Not going to say it's easy, but it does get that way with researching the emotional side of things, instead of the physical.
There's nothing wrong with asking questions about something you don't understand from a female perspective and many women are happy to answer from their POV.;)

Definitely this. I'm all for experimenting and trying out new things, but doing so to try to get a different readership will likely just make your writing not as good - at the very least in the short run until you get more practice with it.

So if you're just trying to do it just to get a 'wider' audience, you might find your audience dwindles because you're losing your primary audience and you're not good enough to pick up the new audience.

Just my two pennies.
