I'm hesitant to even respond to this, but I will. I'm sure you'll quote this ad nauseum and bring it up whenever it's even partially relevant.

The short answer is that my comment was pretty much a one-off and I found the situation ironic.

The longer answer is that, while I'm bitter about a number of government programs and the public's blatant abuse of them, I'm cynical because I've seen it first-hand. For seven years I worked with and for the residents of the four largest housing projects in my urban area. The vast majority of the residents are black, and I would describe the vast majority of those as unappreciative, irresponsible, and self-involved. Of course there were and are exceptions. Like anyone who expresses an opinion, I'm speaking based on my own perspective and experience, and I fully acknowledge that other people will completely disagree.

As Karen Kraft has so graciously shown us....there's little reason to believe what someone says here in the threads. For the next-to-nothing that it's worth, I am being both truthful and sincere.

As I mentioned in the other thread as well, I was married to a black man for almost a decade. Though LJ_Reloaded has made sure that all of you know both that it ended and that it ended badly, I loved my ex and his family completely and without reservation....which, looking back, might have been stupid on my part. I will own that it is within me to be resentful; it is not within me to establish a blanket hatred. Dictionary.com defines racism as, "hatred or intolerance of another race"; at worst I'm intolerant of behavior that in my experience has been all-too-often exhibited by members of one race, though certainly not exclusively or uniformly so.

On one point I will offer an apology. I am sorry that I have misrepresented myself in a forum where it is so difficult for others to safely know my heart, by background, and the person who I am.
