Over the years, college students have stood together for what they believe in, from civil rights to anti-war policies to the more recent protests against the unequal distribution of wealth, otherwise known as Occupy Wall Street. But no where in history have students banned bottled water. Until now.

You've either lived a very sheltered life or you only consult sources that you know are going to support your political views. I say that with affection, seriously. I'm not being judgmental, but your response here indicates a deep seated need to either avoid any consideration that the ban might be a good idea or that the people doing it have a reasonable motivation.

I carry a re-useable water bottle that has a charcoal filter in it.
My water is always clean and safe.
In a pinch, you can even filter an entire bottle of salt water and have clean, safe, drinkable water come out (although you can only do that once and then you have to replace the filter.)

There was a study done here recently where the CSIRO tested bottled water and found that the levels of bacteria were up to 100 times higher than from tap water. And it was across all brands, even Evian failed.

The main question that is on their minds and others who are opposed: What happened to freedom of choice?

why shouldn't a college administration have the same right.
