Hell, I'm borderline OCD!
But I hate mopping the floors - with an intensity that is beyond normal.

What part of the domestic chores leaves you seriously irritated?

Any more, almost all of it. I have a 16 year old boy. He gets distracted every time he looks down and can see nothing beyond his manhood.

I'm so tired of picking up after him, telling him to pick up after himself and the irritation of when he is not home having to deal with his mess.

I clean the floors with a damp cloth that I move around with my foot once or twice a week. I never do the whole floor at the same time. I do the baseboards about once a month. We don't wear shoes in the house which keeps the dirt down and then we don't live in a dirty area. Straight up city.

Folding the laundry....:)

As you can imagine, with a dead-skin-cells thing going on here, I have a LOT of laundry!
I find it's easier if I fold it straight off the line or out of the drier.
Into each person's pile, and then yell for everyone to come get it.
:)

I vacuum and mop every day.
Being in the country, there's a lot of dust, chaff, etc. flying around the place.
If I left it for a day or two, it would be a huge job!

Cleaning the oven, urgh! I am no domestic goddess - housework will never be more than something I have to get done, and I sometimes envy those who get peace and so forth from it. There are some parts that I don't mind. Garby, folding laundry is actually a part I don't mind. There are parts I dislike, but oven cleaning is definitely one of the worst.

I hate laundry, and really and jobs that involve making places for things or moving a large amount of things. I need direction!!!! I get so overwhelmed when it comes to dealing with big jobs and no one to guide me xD

Ok, yeah, ovens aren't my fave either.
But still preferable to mopping!

:eek:...NEG, I forgot about cleaning the oven....:)

Over the years, I've learned that any big project can be broken up into small, manageable ones. That helps a lot - you do one piece, and you can feel a sense of satisfaction that you got that piece done, before moving on to the next piece.

For some weird reason, mopping doesn't annoy me... other than that is *exactly* when the cats need to walk in whatever room I just mopped. But I don't have to do it more than once a week. If I had to do it daily, like you do, I'd grow to hate it!

Hands-down...I hate putting away clothes. I spent an hour and a half doing just that today. That should tell you how often I actually make myself fold and hang.
Funny how different we all are. Putting clothes away gives me a sense of completion. Weird, huh?

Heh, hopefully, you don't have to do it often!

Sorry, WQ, didn't mean to horn in on your thread.

Drying dishes. It's the most useless, inefficient waste of time ever. Just leave the fuckers, they'll dry on their own.

Cleaning up dog and cat poop and pee in the house.

I actually completely understand that. And I really can't pinpoint why I dislike such a simple chore so much.

Know what I like? Cleaning the kitchen. If the kitchen is clean, I have a sense of calm. No idea why.

Everything is a breeze except doing the <insert curse here> dishes.

Who dries dishes? Really. As you say, there's no point. Nature will deal with it.

I don't mind washing them, I just think drying is a complete waste of time. Unfortunately, various girlfriends have disagreed with my utterly logical stance on the matter.

A long ime ago, when the earth was flat, I watched a documentary on germs and bacteria in the home.
Interestingly, drying the dishes was one thing they showed - testing the dishes after drying, and also after letting them dry in the rack.
The result was air drying meant less bacteria, but only if the rack was clean!
If the drying rack isn't clean then you're better off drying with a clean teatowel.

Having said that, I use about 10 teatowels every day, and I let my dishes air dry.

I do understand that! I don't necessarily enjoy the doing thereof, but I love having a clean and orderly kitchen. When I cook and/or bake, I clean as I go. So by the time the finished product is plated, there is nothing left to clean but what the food is served on and eaten with. To do otherwise is chaos.

My kitchen must be spotless. I have white countertops, so I need to see that they are scrupulously clean.
Plus, I clean as I go while cooking, so there's never much left to do anyway.

My cat has been trained to use her litterbox - which is kept outside under cover.
I can't imagine having it inside *shudders*
She has a little security door all her own, that is electronically keyed to a transmitter on her collar (had to do that as the possums were getting in!)

Old Man Cat is having troubles remembering where to go.

And Little Rescue Dog sometimes is afraid of going through the dog door at night. He has short legs and may be blind in one eye. They do what they can.

If you have the energy to dirty a dish, you should have the energy to wash the dish.
Not that anyone who needs to read this will.

and the energy to walk that dish back into the damn kitchen.
