Is calculus required regardless of what your major is in college?

Calculus really doesn't have any applications outside of science, physics, and business finance.

In high school, you learn algebra I and II, geometry and trig.

Art history actually requires differential equations, a refined form of calculus.

In more advanced countries you study Calculus at high school, so there is no need to do so at university.:)

Calculus

No Mike, calculus is not required for anything except a math major.

If a degree doesn't require calculus, it doesn't require logical thinking. If a degree doesn't require logical thinking, it has no practical application in the world.

What does art history have anything to do with mathematics?

Hello??? Do the words "perspective" and "scale" have any meaning for you? Perspective is a second order differential equation. A fairly simple one, true, it doesn't use more than three variables as a rule. Not unlike Newton's Law of cooling.

I declared a year before it became mandatory calculus at university to graduate in my major. Yeah!! :D

“If A equals success, then the formula is A X Y Z, X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut”
Albert Einstein

Do not worry about your difficulties in Mathematics. I can assure you mine are still greater.
Albert Einstein

:D

I think calculus is becoming a requirement slowly.

You need an HP calculator to do it properly...ask Pete. I think he has a thread "I can't do this" or something like that...

I'm surprised the OP, hasn't received his yet, for his repetition.

Physics, science, engineering, accounting and business finance all require calculus.

obviously, they all require mathematics. Calculus is a an advanced Mathematics course, it is not a logic course.

English majors are not required to take calculus. You simply do not need calculus to graduate from college and anybody who insists otherwise is simply stupid and unknowing.

Calculus is for pussies. You are the product of successful evolution. Use the fingers and toes that evolution gave you.

It is a requirement for all good degrees. Anyone can graduate with a major in African American Studies, or Women Studies. No calculus needed there.

As long as you pay someone to take the test for you it isn't.
