I know what happens to us after we die.

No Jesus, no devil, no heaven, no hell.

Sorry, but it's a real big disappointment.

I read something years ago that makes sense to me about death and the afterlife. It talked about the brain shutting off, comparing it to losing consciousness, after all, that's what death is, long term. The permanent dirt nap, if burial's your poison.

It said that when you lose consciousness, you're never precisely aware of the actual moment it happens. It cited mathematical theory, comparing it to when you have two points, A & B, if you only go half the distance from A to B in order to get to B, over and over again, you will never reach point B. You are never aware of your brain shutting down.

So perhaps whatever beliefs you may have about death and/or an afterlife manifest themselves to you as your brain shuts down, for eternity.

That's EXACTLY what I was trying to explain in the OP.

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
And above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...

See, I'm a violent agnostic, so I gotta go against be all, end all stuff, even if I can't prove it. I don't know what happens. I figure I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

I don't want to know I'm going to do before I do. I want it to come as a complete and sudden surprise.

Heart attack, stroke, or anyeurism would be my three best choices.

I could also die in some sort of accident.

Oh, I do. I want to control how I die. I won't let fate kill me. If it's not a total shock- like a car wreck or something, I'll shoot myself before I let disease do it. Stroke would be a good way to go, if it kills you outright. If you survive, it would suck.

Most people in today's era die from cancer.

Virtually every single living person of this generation will develop some form of cancer within their lifetime. Only 5 or 7 out of 200 won't develop cancer.

That reminds me- I need a ciggerette.

God, I gotta get some weed. I want to quit smoking. But I have a weird oral fixation- I HAVE to smoke something- especially if I'm gonna try not to eat like a fatass. I'm gonna give myself a new bought- I'm lighting them off the butts today.

100-200 years ago, cancer was almost a medical oddity. Now literally every other person has it.

I wonder what caused that.

If you look closely, you can see Riddick looking back at you - and you don't want that.

Advances in cancer detection. The rates were always pretty high- remember, it's mutation that causes cancer- and mutation causes evolution. It's naturally occuring. But now we can diagnose it better. Plus, more mutations used to be on the benign side, we have a lot more teterogens now then we used to.

Hell, I'm drinking a preotein shake. I have no idea what benzoate is, but I'm pretty sure it causes cancer. Hell, the first five ingredients on here probably cause cancer.

Hell, reading the list I'm realizing that there's no food in this. What the hell is it made of? Is that why they taste so fucking bad?

Cancer is an old person's disease for the most part. Medical advances mean people are living longer, hence more cancer.

Either that or it's the government cancer rays being broadcast from Washington's nose on Mt Rushmore.

mike, you have a very unhealthy fixation with death and dieing. it is preventing you from actually LIVING. all because you are up, awake and breathing doesn't mean you are doing exactly that.

i believe in an afterlife. even if there is none, i won't be aware of it anyway when i die.
i do believe in it, because, i have far too many dreams that come true. i.e.- fate. "your skein was woven long before you were born, go hide in a hole if you wish."
