Between the Turkey & Duck hunting stamp we have to buy at the Post Office then the small game & big game State licenses we buy yearly where does that money go to?

The monies collected go to a pension fund for the widows and orphans.

Trapping is another way to make money and feed your family. Now just because you go to the store and buy your meat doesn't mean that an animal didn't die for your food.

I think trapping and hunting is perfectly fine if you utilize your kill. I love the taste of wild game and its better for you. Not full of hormones and other crap feed to the farmed animals.

a lot of the money goes towards establishing or re-establishing wild game in areas where they have been depleted by overhunting or habitat destruction of the past. it is also used for buying wetlands to protect them from development.

I meant as opposed to hunting. I hate factory farms- with a passion. A passion that could easily spill over into a five page rant, so I'm just gonna go ahead and cut myself off.

I meant that trappers aren't real hunters anymore then those guys who sit in trees with guns and wait. I think if you're going to kill something, you give it a fighting chance- you track it, you use actual skill.

Yeah... you can't generalize like that. Those funds are distributed by county- different counties use them for different things. The Game and Wildlife administration uses it as part of their budget. In some cases this is true, in others Rangers need Christmas bonuses- not in a bad way, they don't make a lot. It's just that it's not federally regulated where that money goes- it's folded into the budget.

i said a lot of the money..................
a lot of money IS used for what i said.
if it wasn't for that, the whitetail deer population would have never been given the boost it was given when a lot of deer were transfered from other areas to here to boost the population from the 1940's onward. hell, back then if you even saw a deer and reported it, you'd get your picture in the paper.
not all the money is used for paying salaries and such.

trapping has been done for thousands and thousands of years. ever heard of deadfalls. they are effective, IF an animal walks into it and takes the bait.
you can set 100 snares and might get 10 rabbits. and that's a LOT of walking to cover the territory.
i can agree on sme hunting methods being silly. especially the fat lazy rednecks who never get off a 4 wheeler.
in a tree? no different than sitting on a rock ledge over a trail. doing that kind of hunting is boring as hell. whether a rock ledge or a tree.
deer hunting isn't hard to do as long as a lot of guns are not going off in a general area. sometimes they just stand there and look at you when they see you.

Guess what shit for brains? Even in the old days hunters sat on game trails waiting and many times baited the area. At times it is best if you have a tall glass of STFU when you are totally clueless.

Lots of stuff they did in the old days was stupid and boring. Hell, they've got a ton of wars that seemed very important at the time, but now seem petty and avoidable.

And if you think I'm gonna shut the fuck up for you- you haven't been on the GB very long. Far cooler folk have asked. I only STFU if there's something else in my mouth.

God I want a fucking cigarette.

I do not see what the difference is if the game is baited or not. A kill is a kill. Hopefully the meat will feed hungry people. But even if the hunt is only about hanging a head over the fireplace, as long as everything is legal, what difference does it make to you?
