they are both very tough little guys, but i have to side with the armadillo. sorry.
They're kind of scary looking! I've never seen one in real life, though.
Eddie (the rescued echidna who lives in the yard) says you are biased.
turtle-rabbit
tell him i wish him a happy, healthy life filled with lots of grubs. i am biased, but for him, i will make an exception. armadillos will rule the world, long after humans are gone. then they will be eaten.
In fairness, Eddie was hit by a large 4-wheel drive, so he may be head-injured.

Their faces look like Piglet's, from Winnie The Pooh. My ex and I were hiking in someplace in Florida...Payne's Prairie, maybe? And we saw them for the first time. We were calling them "steel pigs." They hop away on all fours and dive into tunnels when you get too close.
they are awesome.

Why did the chicken cross the road?
To show the armadillo it could be done!
(In Florida we would substitute "possum" . . . possums have sadly poor timing . . .)
Possums have absolutely perfect timing!
They race out from the long grass on the edge of the road at PRECISELY the second my left front tyre reaches the same spot!
(I always stop and check for young, just so you know.)
