Which part of United Kingdom?
People on the BBC don't sound like this person.

She shows a video where she is teaching a girl from Manchester a London accent, the implication being that she's from London.

That's because the people on the BBC are trained to speak in a Generic English accent. There are a lot of different accents in the UK just as there are a lot of different accents in the US. It all depends on where she lives. My guess is if she's from London it's from one of the London neighborhoods.

Don't different parts of London have distinctly different dialects?

Aren't there a lot of immigrants from other English speaking countries that only sort of semi-adapt and end up with some unique accent?

Hi seanh (waves)

I was wondering when you would take this alt out.

You must wonder how does a little speck fly shit sized country have so many accents It is because they got their asses kicked by everybody and invaded. They would have German accents if not for us Americans who by the way kicked their ass too. :D

Perhaps you have not traveled around the United States? We have approximately 300 different and distinct dialects, ranging from the completely unintelligible South Boston subset of the Boston/Northeast dialect to the absolutely pure music of the Virginia Piedmont inflection.

Our newscasters are trained to speak in Midlands American English, much as English broadcasters are trained to speak in Oxford English.

(nice edit of the germanic 'heir' to their)

The UK hasn't been invaded since 1066. We didn't speak English that you'd recognise then.

The US? The UK invaded you in the War of 1812 and burned Washington. Oops! Sorry.
