There's hardly anything you can't buy at Macy's, but if you show up with a foreign passport, you get a 15% discount on everything (if I remember correctly).

I went to Macy's luggage department, asking for one. A manager and a couple of trainees came back about eight minutes later and, with a sheepish grin, told me that they didn't have any.

"You ran out?"

"No, sir. We actually don't carry them."

"...Macy's doesn't sell umbrellas?"

They laughed. "Yeah - apparently in Southern California, we don't."
