lol labeling...
not sure how many people will jump in that pool...

I would say I lean conservative fiscally
and more liberal socially.

I'm conservative.

Generally speaking I believe progress is as likely as the discovery of new prime numbers. It happens, but discoveries are few and far between, and the odds of your new passion being a new prime number are slim to none.

Progress is terrific, it should be encouraged, but it isnt likely.

Non ideological pragmatist murderer of holy cows.

I have very few principles beside basic clichés (freedom good, violence unfortunate, prosperity nice) and my position vary from hippie progressive to yahoo libertarian to statist communist. Whatever solves the problem at hand.

None of the above...

What goes on in political DC does not effect my soul. I think the whole world should be turned into a giant park and toilet paper and tampons distributed without cost. The internet should be free and ungoverned, marijuana should be legalized, and police should not automatically be granted the power they have...

I don't vote so it really doesn't matter. But I don't complain either...

I used to think of myself as independent, now I'm technically a democrat.

Socially I'm liberal. Gay marriage, drugs, porn, go do what you want. As long as it doesn't hurt people around you I don't much care what you do and I don't want the government interfering much.

Fiscally I'm pragmatic. I don't care how high or low taxes are nor do I care how high or low spending is. I care what we're getting out of it and if it's a net gain for our society or not.

WTF is a libritarian?

Which one is the one where I still get to keep my guns so I can eat organic, non-factory farm meat?

It's Libertarian.
Where I am. Fiscally conservative Libertarian.
I don't care what you do, how you do it, when you do it, or even if you do do it.
Just don't impinge on the rights of others to live their lives without interference, harm and fear.

And, look the fuck after yourselves instead of expecting and getting handouts from the government and every bleeding fucking heart that wants to give other peoples possessions away. (read: governments and charities - after they have taken the house fee)
If I choose to give something I own to someone I think is is need and deserving then so be it - but I vehemently detest and protest forced giving.

End of Libertarian rant.
Thank you

OK- I'm not a libertarian. I like the handouts.
But I don't care what people do.

LOL
at least you are honest :)

People say that all the time on this board. I talk here like I talk in the real world. Are most of you folk liars?

Plus, I really am curious where I fit into the political spectrum. I was raised EXTREMELY democratic- my family was heavily involved in politics, and you vote along party lines. I dislike that, because I do have some conservative beliefs- I like my guns (and so do a lot of the folk who force me to vote democrat) I like the idea of creating the minimum possible number of laws.

regardless of whether you vote republic or democrat you're probably going to end up creating a law you don't want.

if you vote democratic you'll probably be creating ones related to fiscal matters. if you vote republican you'll probably be creating ones related to social matters.

if you enjoy the hand-outs then you're a democrat, most likely, as they tend to be more in favor of taxes and social programs for the poor.

of course both parties these days strive so hard to be centrist that there's a fairly small discernible difference between the two.

I'm with the "I don't give a damn who wins because I'm with the I Know How The World Works Party"

We nominate no candidates because the whole thing is a joke.

But we're an elite group.

If you don't know how the world works, then... you don't get to fucking join.

But, trust me, this is the place to be.

The laughs we have at your expense are priceless.

What is "fiscally conservative?"

Reminds me of how, in order to appear reasonable to those who will never be appeased, I used to say, "Socially Liberal and Fiscally Conservative."

Is that what's going on here?

Fiscally conservative means, I HAVE A JOB AND I PAY MY BILLS, I TAKE CARE OF ME AND MY FAMILY.

Fiscally liberal means: I AM A CHILD OF THE UNIVERSE, I HAVE A RIGHT TO BE HERE, AND SINCE THERES NO GOD ITS YOUR JOB TO TAKE CARE OF ME.
