Please forgive the interuption to your usual fun and games.

As some of you may have noticed a few websites werent available today e.g Wikipedia in protest against the two above acts currently being considered by the American government.

If either of these acts were passed into law the ramifications for those who enjoy a free internet would be drastic.

Please if you are American, let your representitive know that you believe in a free Internet.

As many lonely men on here will tell you, it's not free; you have to pay for it in one way or another.

Please see my thread on the subject.

As Americans we should control the internet and not let it control us. The only people bitching about it or those about to lose billions and those addicted to porn like you.

I read both bills earlier today. They're truly awful pieces of legislation. Whoever wrote them wants shooting.

The RIAA and MPAA wrote them... and handed them off to congresspeople that they bought off so that they could introduce it.

When was the last time adding government into anything.......improved it?

Keep government out of the net.

The US government is run wholly by corporations and private industry.

They do not give a flying fuck about the rights and liberties of Americans! Their only concern is filling their pockets with money at the dire expense of the health, freedom, and quality of life of the American people.

Bills are not passed with congressional votes, they are forced through by means of fraud and corruption. The entire American political system has been rigged to favor a cabal of very corrupt and evil people.

Truth, justice, and common good are always trumped when greed and money are entered into the equation. Today, there is ZERO legitimacy in American politics. Our elected representatives sell themselves out to whoever pays them the most money. Don't ever go to sleep at night thinking that your government has your best interests at heart, and isn't somehow plotting against you and your freedom.

Almost every single one of our congressmen and senators has been bought out by a vast myriad of greedy and diabolical characters. This corruption is so bad at this point, that it may soon lead us to another world war, and ultimately total societal collapse.

If you want to contact your representative, here's an email I received today:

Fight for free speech online - reject the Internet #Blacklist Legislation. https://eff.org/r.C8A via @eff

And please copy this message to your friends (or just forward this email!):

Dear friend,

I just emailed Congress to urge them to oppose the Internet Blacklist Legislation, known as the PROTECT-IP Act in the Senate and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House. This legislation seeks to give the executive branch power to conduct slash-and-burn campaigns against websites that allegedly host – or even link to – content that infringes on intellectual property rights. That would “disappear” whole domain names, fundamentally undermining Internet security, and/or choke off their financial support. The Internet Blacklist Legislation puts more sites than ever at risk, effectively upending the DMCA safe harbors that have been crucial to the growth of Internet innovation and creativity.

Sadly, these short-sighted and dangerous bills won't do much to stop online infringement – but they will jeopardize our ability to speak and read online with the kind of freedom we cherish in the offline world. Deep-pocketed Hollywood lobbyists are aggressively pushing to control and censor the open Internet, willing to sacrifice free speech and our Internet culture in hopes of controlling how people view their movies and products.

We need to stop this bill before it goes any further. Will you contact your representatives in Congress and urge them to oppose the Internet Blacklist Legislation? Visit: https://eff.org/r.C8A

Thank you for helping us defend privacy and free speech in the digital age,

I sent a stern email to both of my Senators, both of whom are sponsors of the bill.

Both appear to now be reconsidering their positions.

It's no use. Our elected representatives turn a deaf ear to anyone who doesn't offer them copious amounts of money, i.e. bribery and corruption.

They should be prosecuted for corruption, racketeering, bribery, and blackmail, and sent to jail for many of their activities, some of them even charged with treason. But our system is so fundamentally broken that criminals are allowed to run amok and get away with every single one of their crimes.

Grassroots and FBI/government investigations into the sheer criminality of our current corrupt regime are always stalled or completely dismantled by the powers that be.

This mouth-frothing insanity isn't going to get better, it will only worsen until it reaches some sort of cataclysmic breaking point.

If SOPA passes, it will only be a matter of time until this site is blacklisted (for any reason they, the US government, want). I'm sure they will find a way to try to eliminate porn/smut sites.

SOPA/PIPA are done... stick a fork in them. Support has been pulled by the penning congessdouches.

I am moving to Canada.

Why do we want to give the collectivist Holder any more authority?

I think you posted in the wrong thread... Either that, or you have no clue what the rest of the class is talking about.

It's ok, you're old, we won't hold it against you.
