Has anyone here had cancer and had it go into remission and never return?

Apparently cancer survivors are quite numerous in our society. If it's detected early enough, the survival rate is quite high.

Cancer treatment means they can only extend your life by 5-10 years depending on what kind of cancer you have an how advanced it is. They cannot completely cure you of the disease, much like HIV/AIDS it will kill you eventually.

If your cancer has metastasized to other parts of your body, your survival rates become extremely low, usually below 10%. Even if it goes into remission, that cancer resurfaces in most cases.

With 7 billion and growing fast is it a bad thing? PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE!!! get over it.

I'm of the thought that once you've been given the "C" label, no matter what kind it is, there is no going back. Once you've got it; once it's in your body, your mind, your spirit and soul. No matter what treatment, no matter the survivor claims, it's insidious...

It's not a pretty outlook but from what I've seen, cancer is just a disease that's managed at best, and just waiting to rear it's proverbial head at any moment...

Fuck you.

Fuck you to.

They gave me 6 months. 15 years ago.
As true as those statements are- who the fuck starts a thread that basically reads, "Hey, anybody here survive cancer? Well, that's ok, it'll get ya' next time."

Yeah. I've had cancer. Twice. And it doesn't have to kill you. It does fuck with you that your own body doesn't want you alive. It does destroy your body once you start treatment. But it doesn't have to kill you. I can get shot. I can get hit by a bus. I could fall out of a plane. I could catch AIDS. I will not die from cancer. I'll shoot myself before I do that.

Gee, I know one guy that had it over 30 years ago. Yep, he is still with us...bless his heart.

Aren't there theories many, if not all, people get multiple cancers throughtout their lives, but their bodies fight them back?

25 years ago. Lung free for 25years.

Yes. Cancer is caused by mutation. Everyone has a cellular mutation. Most don't do any damage. Some even spur evolution. Some day, someone may have x-men powers because of it. Doctors tell you that when they start treatment.

God, I'm gonna be really pissy on this board.

I can't be the only person who didn't die of cancer who hates it when people say that everyone dies of cancer. I hate those commercials with the little kids bitching about their parents dieing of cancer or whatever- because apparatchik, the only way to get funding is to make everyone think that it's a death sentence. But it's not.

A friend of mine died of stomach cancer few months after being dignosed.

It saddened me and his friends.

I thought that cancer can only be managed, and not completely eliminated from your body.

They can only extend your life by X number of years with treatment, ultimately it will get you in the end.

"Nobody gets out alive" cancer or not.

You can't completely eliminate your genes, but the cancerous growth is a MUTATION. It doesn't magically appear. You can have the genotype (genetic mutation) without having the phenotype (tumorous growth). You have to have the gene and then hit the trigger. You don't mutate randomly. One person can smoke for 50 years and be fine, because they don't have the gene to mutate, whereas another can smoke one pack and *BAM* cancer. Also, you don't necessarily get lung cancer from cigarettes, it's wherever you were going to get cancer. I had it in my bones- (mostly) from smoking (the second time).

There are a fuckton of triggers (everything causes cancer in this day and age) but cancer appears because the gene reacted to something. It's an evolutionary response. 5% of the time, the mutation is beneficial, 95% of the time, it's cancer. When I was 5 and I went through radiation, the nurse explained to me that I had a 5% chance of getting superpowers. He was really cool- I'll always remember him. They let me take my stuffed dog I always kept with me, but they put him in a baggie.

Go through it a couple of times. You'll know way more about cancer then you ever wanted to.

And there's a lot of stuff you can do that helps- not just the medical treatments. There are certain foods that are cancer fighting, certain breathing and deep thought techniques, ect that the doctors will tell you to do.

Cancer does NOT have to kill you.

Dude, you've been writing a lot of cancer threads. You ok? Because I'm not gonna lie- it fucking sucks. Ironically, it sucks far more after you take your treatment. It feels like you're dieing. But you're not. You'll be alright. I was suicidal and I fucking lived.

Cancer is the worst possible way to die. Almost every other person gets it in their lifetime. Very few people survive it.

Probably more than half of every single person I know (including myself) will probably end up with cancer before we are old.

Half? I woulda thought the number was far higher then that- like 70-80%, here in the States, if we're going to count an entire lifetime. But yeah, I could see that. But don't worry, here you'll fat yourself to death long before the cancer has time to take root. Our highest contribution to the death pool comes in the form of double bacon cheeseburgers- heart problems, diabetic comas gone awry, strokes- they beat the shit out of cancer.

Thank you, I've been on pins and needles since I found out I have to do this!!!!

It's really not as bad as it seems, hon. I hope that everything goes well for you to. But even if there is something, don't let this thread discourage you. There are plenty of survivors- and it's not a life altering experience. You wouldn't know, looking at me, that I had ever been sick.

I'm sure that everything will work out for you. :rose:

Thank you!!! It's just a shock, hearing biopsy. My fingers are crossed!

Doesn't it just piss you off? My reaction was/is, "Really body? Right now? Well fuck you then."

But let us know how it goes.
We can hyjack this to a support thread. :D

The medical establishment is NOT interested in finding a cure for cancer. But rather finding new and different ways of making more money off of it.

The cancer industry is a $300-400 billion dollar per year establishment whose continued existence and profits depend on selling overpriced and ineffective treatments for the disease, and NOT curing it outright.

The more prevalent cancer becomes throughout our society, the greater the medical establishment and pharmaceutical industry can profit off of it.

Do you have any idea how many billions of dollars drug companies make just with chemotherapy alone? Curing cancer is trumped by the ENORMOUS financial interests of the medical and pharmaceutical establishment.

If cancer was cured outright by some miracle discovery, tens of trillions of dollars in stocks, treatment assets, profitable pharmaceuticals, research grants, thousands of oncologists, medical college departments, etc... would instantly be rendered useless.

After everything I've researched, I can tell you with 100% certainty that there is NO desire whatsoever by organized medicine to cure cancer, but rather to innovate new ways to exploit the disease for the greater profit. It is essential to understand that these establishments are only interested in ONE thing, and that is NOT your health! Effective treatments which threaten to replace currently existing and profitable ones are vigorously attacked suppressed by the FDA (big pharma lap dog).

Modern medicine has become one giant money-making scam which profits off of human misery.

When you are diagnosed with a chronic illness, you become a walking profit center for greedy businesspeople and elite corporate criminals to extract money from your suffering to fund their lavish lifestyles and appease their greedy stockholders.

Yes, the world truly is a sad and horrible place filled with greed and perpetual injustice. Virtually every single facet of our global society is run by a ruling hierarchy greed and corruption. perhaps a better world will be waiting for us after we die. Or not.

One day this will all end very badly, when greed, corruption, and injustice becomes so rampant, nature has a way of correcting itself.
