The "traditional" family is actually a socio-economic imperative based on the development of agriculture and its implicit division of labour between indoor workers and outdoor workers. Granted, we've had "traditional" agriculture for many thousands of years, but that's hardly "eternal". And I think even you'd agree that we are in a post-agricultural society; we're post-industrial. Even India and China are nearly post-agricultural.

Exactly! If we are going to emulate how God made us, why be so myopic? Let’s embrace the society of Australopithecus afarensis or, better yet, ape the apes! Who needs religion or civilization if reproduction is all that’s required of us? Or we could go in the other direction towards the future. This is where God becomes a little fuzzy to me. I mean, are we assuming he is essentially retired? Has he abdicated certain responsibilities, which are now the province of humans, natural disasters, etc., or is he still dictating how things are? If he is still tinkering away, I am inclined to think the new and improved models of human civilization are still to come.
