This is a very simple question.

Was it okay for miles to post someone's personal information without their permission

Simple shit, this. Just vote. Oh, and it's public, so everyone can see what you think.

No. I voted no. I don't think it's ok for ANYONE to post someone's personal information without that person's permission.

These days, I rarely click a link because someone told me you can track where that person is from when they click it.

Actually, someone PM'd and told me they knew my town because of the link I clicked. Again, that's personal information which is being found out underhandedly (is that a word???? :D )

I'm not sure that's possible without some sort of spyware, but I'm no techie.

Why single out miles? You might as well single out Sonny *ding ding ding*

Pretty sure thats the point. That was Decembers point which isn't a super popular point atm.

I'm wishy washy on this issue. If the poster has exposed peoples personal info intentionally I figure they're fair game. They open that can of worms then they deserve a bit of poetic justice.

Generally, I’d agree wifya; with one or two exceptions.

Live by the sword etc etc.

Woof!

I abstain from voting because I do not know the circumstances. Nothing is ever black and white.

What circumstances would you need to know?

(And you're a chickenshit for not being forthcoming with those circumstances in your above post.)

Posting Personal Information is Lit:

Incognito did it before becoming a new name.
LovingTongue did it to Ishmael and brags about it being 'duty'.
Miles did it to Rob.
Killswitch did it to Blacksnake
Rob uses personal information to attack AJ.
Karen did it to Kippies.
Funkenstein did it to Killswitch.
Nipples did it to Powersemen.
Powersemen threatened to do it to Luke.
Sonny did it to Ken/karen.
Hanns did it to anyone he could find.
We had the BoobsNBrains/Taltos scandal.

and these are just the examples I can remember without research.

Each time people jumped on a bandwagon according to their "lit associations" and piled it on.

My feeling is that the only time you may post personal information is when specifically directed to do so by the person whose information you are revealing, and even then it should be done with the knowledge that you are permanently putting their information in the hands of people whose actions put them among the worst of humanity.

If a person gave you the info because you were once friends I would say no. Divulging something told in confidence is wrong. However, my motto is today's best buddy is tomorrows worst nightmare so I trust nobody I do not personally know in real life. I want to be able to locate and kick your ass if you betray me.

The above being said if you are insane enough to give that info out or post it on the net you deserve whatever you get for being a dumbass.

So you see Mr Asshat I was not being chickenshit. I just cannot render a judgement on Miles without knowing the circumstances. But I guess you like blind ill informed judgement.

Funny, that bit I bolded.

Its wrong to do and sadly in this day thanks to the internet there is no such thing as privacy. In addition to the moral argument I just fail to see what doing something like that is supposed to accomplish.

Embarass people. Get one over on them. Retaliation. Entertainment. It's a measure of how seriously one takes this place that they would go to the trouble to do that and/or a measure of who they are as a person.
