Well, it's partly George Wallace's fault, a lot of Dems (white only) migrated to the GOP by way of his American Independence Party, after the Dems spat on their faces by enacting civil rights legislation. Then Nixon came up with the "Southern Strategy" and the party of Abraham Lincoln became the party of Jefferson Davis.

This is quite true. Civil Rights, and Wallace's defection, were of far greater consequence to Hubert Humphrey than Vietnam. I remain curious as to what a Bobby Kennedy/Nixon race would have looked like though. A tragedy we missed that opportunity.

The story I saw said it was a web ad, but I don't live in SC, it could be there, or they could be testing the ad on the net first.

Is Gingrich out to get Romney, or is he out to get the nomination?
