Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for a unanimous court swatted away the government’s claim that the Lutheran Church did not have the right to fire a “minister of religion” who, after six years of Lutheran religious training had been commissioned as a minister, upon election by her congregation.

The fired minister -- who also taught secular subjects -- claimed discrimination in employment. The Obama administration, always looking for opportunities to undermine the bedrock of First Amendment religious liberty, eagerly agreed.

Meanwhile...

A federal judge has ordered city officials to immediately remove a prayer mural displayed in the auditorium of a public high school. Jessica Ahlquist, a teenager who says she is an atheist, had sued officials of the city and Cranston High School West, demanding that they remove the mural because it promotes a particular religion. City officials argued that the mural is a historical artifact from the school’s early days and serves no religious purpose. The prayer encourages students to strive academically and begins with the words “our heavenly father’’ and ends with “amen.’’

How many times do we have to explain that it's freedom of religion, not from religion? I really don't understand why someone finds a mural so offensive - I'm sure it didn't have foul language, child pornography, violence or racial slurs on it. Those things are offensive. If I see a painting I don't like - I just don't look at it anymore! I don't believe in paganism, but if there were a painting of pagan worshippers in a public place, I wouldn't care. There are plenty of pictures I see on a daily basis that I don't particularly like or believe the content of - but I don't go whining to the courts that they are offending me and please make them take them down. Don't these people understand what freedom means? It isn't freedom from being offended - that was never promised in our Declaration or Bill of Rights. If it was, almost everyone could be called offensive by someone else, and we'd all be kicked out. And to that sweet little girl who made the demand - I find YOU offensive because of your intolerance. Can we get you kicked out too? Just be glad you live in a country that offers you the freedom to believe or not as you choose - many others in this world are not so lucky. In many countries, a female would have no rights, and no voice. And might not even get to go to a high school to be offended by a mural.

Doesn't that teenage atheist have a blank wall (s)he can look at that explains his religion? Perhaps we should take that down, too?

Our President does not want a charter of negative liberties, he wants to do things for you like get Christianity into the closet...

How dare Christians discriminate!

He just does not want you crazy religious fuckers running the show.

God bless that man.

I believe . . . as I understand it.

It has to be simple and free of stoopid dogma.

So it has to be the same for everyone else, too.

Oh Gawadah, Lawardah of all that is, let Timmah!!! teeboo the Pats, and I will sacrifice Petie on the Altar of Expedience, and may the smoke be pleasing to your nostrils.

Wat's Plan is for Teeboo to get teebooed by the Birds in Bal'mer next weekend.

They haz defense there.

Ray's good, but too old to be left out on an island; TIMMAH! torched the young* guys of the Steel lace Curtain...

* Well, relatively young for the Steelers, some who -played against Boomer.

LeBeau came up with a scheme to deny Timmah!!! the run, and it worked. Too bad that a base D would likely have done as well and prevented some of the long throws he made.

Too many guys in the box . . . and LSU dd the same thing on Monday.

Methinks the Harbaugh Boys are a bit smarter.

Of course, they'll be playing in Candlestick in 2" of water.
