Conservatives Remain the Largest Ideological Group in U.S.

It would be interesting to see how the "moderate" vote, and if they have trended more toward the liberal or the conservative spectrum.
Also I think the definition of "conservative" has shifted more and more over the last 20 years.

Aww
still mad the "Ron Paul Revolution"
didn't take off like you wanted?

Its not?:

He's solidly the #2 candidate now on the Republican side, and clearly no longer can be dismissed as a "fringe" candidate.

That said, I personally don't really support him anymore. He's right on foreign policy but wrong on too many other issues. I was just diluding myself he was a new Pat Buchanan who is my real political icon.

America is a right of center country. Always has been and probably always will be until we go the way of the Romans.

I sure LT, UD, And RubDownSow are all Googling "Enuresis" as we speak.

Conservatives Remain the Largest Ideological Group in U.S.

PRINCETON, NJ -- Political ideology in the U.S. held steady in 2011, with 40% of Americans continuing to describe their views as conservative, 35% as moderate, and 21% as liberal. This marks the third straight year that conservatives have outnumbered moderates, after more than a decade in which moderates mainly tied or outnumbered conservatives.

Interesting in that the poll asks people to label themselves.

You mean the Barry Goldwater who wrote Conscience Of A Conservative? He was a little out of touch with reality in his last term.

How do you mean?

And...

...on a scale of 1-10, how "conservative" do you consider Romney?

And...

...if Romney is the candidate, on a scale of 1-10 how "conservative" would you rate the Republican Party?

Not directed to me..... but I'll answer.

Romney is not a conservative...period

On a scale of 1-10, I'd give Romney a 7 as a moderate.

I do not rate the Republican party as conservative, and I don't think many conservatives do.

Last conservative I knew was Barry Goldwater...

Goldwater regarded the John Birchers as total nutcases even though were an important part of his base. He would not have thought so highly of you.

Let's see if the LARGEST IDEOLOGICAL GROUP in the U.S. can win a presidential election this November....

....and let's see what novel excuses the Vettefag will come up with when they don't.

Anyone else want to tackle this mental giant? He's just not much of a challenge anymore.

This is just exactly like those recent polls that show the rising popularity of socialism among Americans, except that the survey did not define "socialism," so they're really just polling for the popularity of the word.

What else would you do, give them a blood test?
Maybe ask them touchstone questions on the issues? I dunno. It just seems to me that I could easily call myself a conservative or a liberal, depending on the issue. So how do I answer that poll?
Okay Pergy, you wanna label yourself, or have me label you...............:D
Who cares? Whatever label you come up with I can cite a position of mine that counters it.
On a scale of 1-10, I'd give Romney a 7 as a moderate.
Bwahaha...what?
Just like Lit. :D

I was thinking exactly the opposite, ya wingnut.
