It's rather amazing what little play this is getting in the news, or maybe I've just had my head under a rock. Either way it has passed the house. So what say you denizens of Lit, for or agin it? A matter of states rights being trampled upon, or something that has been too long in the making?

Federally mandated reciprocity for concealed weapons permits.

AN ACT
To amend title 18, United States Code, to provide a national
standard in accordance with which nonresidents of a
State may carry concealed firearms in the State.

Look up NDAA pal. Under the 2nd amendment every citizen of sound mind should be allowed to carry a fking Bazooka if wanted.

But since this country is ran by nothing but corrupt traitors that's a problem.

Democratic opponents said the bill would constitute a "race to the bottom," with states that have strict requirements for issuing permits having to accept permits from states with far more lax standards.

I'm so very proud to be from Vermont right now. Championing the right to bear arms since Ethan Allen bit that British captain's ear off. I got yer "bottom" right here.

Ok I'm on my phone and can't get the text on the bill to load. So can someone give me the run down or cliff note of it.

Yup. Come hang out. I'm in Woodstock, the most Currier and Ives town in the Republic. Couple hundred feet to a covered frickin' bridge.

HA (laffin) well of course you live in Woodstock. :D

Srsly laffin'. I'll bring my Jimi compilation. You supply homemade brew.

In a nut shell what it says is that every state has to honor a concealed weapons carry permit issued by any other state. A federal reciprocity agreement so to speak.

States would have to grant reciprocity for concealed-carry permits from other states.

That was Woodstock, New York.

In case you don't realize the difference, SHOULD and CAN are two very different things. As it is, try packing a gun into Illinois and have a cop stop you. Your ass would be in jail faster then you can spit.

Not even you believe that.

Small bazooka. Conceal carry style. We actually should be allowed to carry whatever the hell we like. As many as we like. Full auto. Because ya know what? Gun owners of sound mind don't go around blasting birds off trees full auto just to show off.

Even Liberals of sound mind should be allowed to keep & carry. Hopefully before they become a victim. Because it only takes one time.

Exploding the Myths About National Right to Carry

Here at NRA-ILA, we fly in a constant headwind of disinformation. Anti-gun groups generate outlandish claims on a daily basis and the biased media parrots their propaganda without question. We are constantly correcting the lies, misstatements and half-truths that our political opponents strew in our path.

In truth, I don’t mind because there is a positive side effect. Anti-gun groups erode their own credibility with every provable lie. By the same token, we build our own credibility every time we disprove an absurd statement made by the enemies of freedom.

The bill says, in material point, that reciprocity of concealed carry permits is guaranteed, except in states where it's outright forbidden to carry a concealed weapon or to obtain a carry permit. The Comptroller General has one year to conduct an audit of all states' licensing standards and report back to congress.

In short, if you have a carry permit and cross state lines, you're good as long as you're not entering a state that's expressly forbidden concealed firearms.

Machine guns and explosive devices don't count.

Which in itself is a crime. Same for NY. As we've recently seen.

Every, single citizen should protest to the mountaintops this incursion on our rights. It's a privilege to own and drive a vehicle. Owning and carrying a gun is a right afforded by the 2nd amendment. If you have no prior weapon convictions this should not EVER be an issue. No exception.

What's his shit, that dippy rockstar gun nut guy, Nugent, does exactly that sort of thing.

Oh he does not. and if he does it's his right as he owns his own land. But mostly he's a bow hunter. Which if ya want my honest (wait, you're gonna shit) opinion is the truest form of hunting. You and your game are on even ground.
