Do you really care that much about money?

Some individuals are willing to ruin and even kill other people (sometimes en masse) for the sake of monetary gain.

My elderly aunt is worth between $40-50M dollars and she insists that she led a horribly unhappy life.

I've been inside multi-million dollar homes on a few occasions, (I know someone who is a realtor) and have ridden inside extravagant automobiles. Sure it would be nice to have that lifestyle, but I don't understand what makes people want to ruin and repress the lives of others, commit unspeakable crimes, and even kill to acquire those things. I guess that greed and megalomania is just human nature.

Is money really that important to you? Is it really worth the life or livelihood of another human being? Is there something that is more invaluable to you than wealth and omnipotence?

I feel sorry for wealthy people because of how they are persecuted, attacked, and stolen from by the less fortunate so they can try and emulate that lifestyle.

Most steal to get their drugs because their too fucked up or lazy to work for them.

It'a a delicate balance of having just enough but not too much.

Money and greed are the sole cause of all of human misery, right next to war and religion.

It's all the natural animalistic instincts of the homo-sapien. Or in other words, human nature.

I would think it would be ill fitting shoes.

I don't want to be rich. I'd rather be wealthy. That being said, I don't care much for most fancy things- I do however wish I could atleast keep up with the times. I do want my own house on my own lil plot of land. I'm not Scrooge McDuck here. Hell I just now gotten a Xbox 360. I don't want to hobknob, I just want to be able to go to a bar or nightclub. I want cable TV. And with money comes the means to do what I want like build my own furniture, modify my car. Honestly I'd rather have a few modded regular cars than to have two fancy whatever-mobiles.

The secret to happiness (I'm 60-something) is being who you are and filling your days with what you enjoy. If you wanna watch tv all day, smoke, and eat institutional slop, you can do it. If you wanna be a Wall Street bandit and fuck 1/2 of America outta its 401K, you can do that too.

Two interesting possibilities/personas you offer us. Gee, which one do I like more...

It is not about money to most of us. It is about the assholes trying to take away what little money we have.

The problem with China is no one there has any imagination. Induction is impossible for all self-respecting Chinks. China is the great monkey-see, monkey-do culture.

The love of money and whatnot...

The best things in life are free

But you can give them to the birds & bees.
The best things in life are not free. That phrase is a pet-peeve for me. Usually these folk are talking about the relationships we've built, that experience has taught me revolve around money. My friends and family seem to like me because of the things that I will do for them/give to them. I have a slew of friends, and I have since kindergarten, noticed that they didn't come over to see me- they came over to play my Playstation. And if their car breaks down, they expect you to come and fix it- whether you can afford to or not- if they need help; you'll be there, no matter how much it costs you. Good friends spend whatever they need to soas not to see others go without.

And then, when you don't have nay money or you're all used up, they don't need you anymore. I hate everyone I know. I don't know what to do about it.

The people who care that much about money, are the ones that don't have any.

Do I care that much about money.

Yes.

Your premise is truly flawed.

Only the true idiots go for the quick kill.

The greedy provide the goods and services that enrich them over a long period of time.

You do know the parable of the sun and wind? no?

Some folks wipe their asses with thirty-million-dollar artworks.

There are plenty of rich people who obsess about money. I'm a master gardener and I obsess about veggies.

Never heard of a Master Gardener. Is there a degree for that?
I just plant things and then strategically neglect them.
Most of the time I get a decent return for doing nothing.
So long as I keep the possum population under control, I get veges galore every year.

Give it time. It takes a while to gather around you people of like mind. You often cannot choose them as family or friends until you get older. Choose carefully. It's much harder to rid yourself of people you don't want in your life than to just not hit that "friend" button in the first place...

You're so young yet, even though I think you have a good head on your shoulders. You'll eventually learn that the best things in life aren't necessarily free but the most important ones are. A main one being your health. And no one can buy that with all the money in the world...

I rather be rich and miserable than poor and miserable.

One of my mother's famous words of advice to me was "It's just as easy to marry a rich man as it is to marry a poor man".

I would like to be a master gardener...can't wait for spring to start my new one

I took that class years ago. I'm still certified. It was very enlightening although the fertilzer/agriculture sections were kind of boring...
