As I leave for work, I give you this to argue over:

What's to argue?

She had a shitty holiday season what with her husband dying of cancer Christmas day and killing what seemed a stalker breaking into her house with a big knife on New Year's Eve.

Those holidays are going to suck for some time.

I agree with you.

If the political posters of the board peek in here, I just figured they'd have arguments a plenty

I read about this earlier today. I certainly agree she had a right to defend herself but it seemed so weird that she calmly asked if it was ok to kill the guy outside or if she had to wait until he came in.
I dunno. I don't like killing for any reason but if you gotta do it then you gotta do it. Still seems odd to me. Cold.

Her cold calm did seem odd didn't it?

But then 2 of her dogs had been found dead, the guy had showed up just to introduce himself prior to the 31st, and she was evidently spooked by all this. Add to this her husband was in his fifties. Maybe there was a history of harassment?

Dude brought a knife to a gunfight. Generally a bad idea.

I suppose you want me to read the linked story, don't you?

Couldn't be bothered to c&p the body of it here for easy digestion, could you?

Feeling a bit self-centered, are we? ;)

I always find it polite to provide an executive summary.

She was pretty cold - but maybe she is just "desensitized". The world is a fucked up place at times.

I'll tell you what think is more odd. I live in Massachusetts and legally I could not shoot the intruder. I am supposed to climb out a window first and try and run away.

If someone crosses my threshold here in WV, they better have been invited in.

However, poor mr Tyler is in similar shoes as you, he has to prove he tried to flee before shootin the effers. I'm pretty sure he has a story ready, though

No, I don't.

Really, I did the research.

They come in and I can treat it like a declaration of war.

You should learn your own laws.

Section 8A. In the prosecution of a person who is an occupant of a dwelling charged with killing or injuring one who was unlawfully in said dwelling, it shall be a defense that the occupant was in his dwelling at the time of the offense and that he acted in the reasonable belief that the person unlawfully in said dwelling was about to inflict great bodily injury or death upon said occupant or upon another person lawfully in said dwelling, and that said occupant used reasonable means to defend himself or such other person lawfully in said dwelling. There shall be no duty on said occupant to retreat from such person unlawfully in said dwelling.

I've known a couple people who had to kill other people, both times people they knew.
Yes, it kind of fucked them up.

They had no choice but kill or get killed themselves and maybe other people too.

Self-defense is neither against the law of man nor God.

Police found Martin, 24, slumped over a floral-print sofa with a single gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

I'd sue his family for a new couch.
