Why Do We Give It Away for Free?

Certainly seems to bother you a lot--much more than it does me, obviously.

I congratulate you, though, on finding your level of audience here. You certainly seem to be on the Scouries level. :D

At least I have an audience. How many people view and vote on your stories? Not many from what I see.

Maybe you should talk to Scouries, he could lend you some alts to vote on your stories

Why, again, do you care? You certainly seem to have a deep, almost psychotic obsession with me.

You can't seem to let a single post go by without comment. It ought to be embarrassing, it looks like you're being led around by the nose.

No, it's just so much fun to see you get all pissy and huffy!

(Plus it's fun to pop pompous asses like you with pointy wit, even though you obviously can't defend your wussy ass worth shit!)

Hehehe! You're a poet and don't know it. :D

Pissy and huffy? I'm being pissy and huffy? And here I thought that pissy started with post #62. Who woulda known I was being pissy and huffy? Who wouldna known that it was that easy to do? :D

Before that (post #62) this thread was doing just fine. Interesting that nobody has noticed that.

Why do I keep submitting stories here? I used to think getting a red H was something great, until I saw how bogus the scoring is. What has given me the best feedback is being added to someone's favourite author/story list. That says to me my story is worth hanging on to and reading again and again. When I look at who favourited me, I see a broad range of readers and also who I'm associated with amongst other authors chosen by them. That shows me the level of writing I can produce. Doing this for free is invaluable, in terms of feedback and experience. This past year saw me added to over 30 lists and a good majority was for my earlier works. Writing in a genre like Lesbian and being taken seriously by many of them as a good writer, gives me confidence to explore my bounderies and try new ideas.
As noted previously, you never know who is reading your work here and opportunity sometimes knocks without expecting it.

I agree. I think that the most real look at popularity here is in the "favorited" voting and the "most popular" lists on the category pages. Those are figures that aren't being manipulated like the ratings are.

I dunno . . . I've been favorited by people who've favorited massive numbers of works, some of which I doubt were really their favorite stories. The praise that cheers me most is in the comments.

Overall, favorites are the stat that requires the most effort for people to artificially inflate. Someone wanting to do it would have to create an email and an account for every extra favorite.

Everything else can be manipulated anonymously.

As far as that goes, I have noticed two different types of "favoriters". some favorite a story, read it then un-favorite it. others save it forever.

some favorite only a select few authors that really appeal to them others favorite a ton of them.

I find it flattering when I see that someone has been on lit for a few years, only has a few fav's and I'm one of them. It means almost nothing when I see I am favorited by someone who has practically every active author on their list.

It blows my mind how much time certain people here spend in creating alts. I think that has to be the ultimate sign of being a loser here is that you will spend hours signing up for throwaway e-mails addresses that number in the dozens to hundreds.

Matter of fact, I'll share one thing I have noticed with you (I am sure you noticed this long ago.)

When someone favs me I always click to see who else they have favorited. Because I wrote mostly incest I see the same authors quite frequently. Mental Case, Nikki2021 Jessie19, youbadboy alwayswantedtoo etc...

who I very rarely see (considering he is closing in on 3k favs) is Mr. scouries. I won't say I have not seen him, but no where near as much as his numbers warrant.
This of course is mostly due to the face that the majority of his favs are alts that only bookmark him.

No, what is embarrassing is the amount of people who just let shit slide. They sigh, and say "oh, its not worth it" "Let someone else say it."

Yup that's how Hitler rose to power, just a funny looking little guy, not worth stopping.

Of course that is a terrible analogy, Hitler has incredible historical significance. This fool only has self imposed significance which most people here know, yet never feel like calling out.

Sorry if it bugs you, that like safe_bet(and this would be all I would think I would have in common with her) I live to mock those who are full of themselves.

Guess you must devote several hours a day in self-mockery then. :D

Hitler.

Okay, then.

You keep at it, then. You just might singlehandedly save the internet from a dreadful fate!

;)

With sad agreement

They say, you should write about what you know, so everyone should be able to write about sex. At the same time, I wonder if how well you write about sex says anything about how good you are at it. :D

Yes, when I look at the best I can manage from a story and eventually give up and submit it, well I am looking at some not very pleasant characters and some of them are just getting off on each other.
Still, some folk do use others and under the appropriate circumstances it is corect to write about it. Perhaps not very nice though.
