What makes a poster special?

Alright, I do like the lettering enamels better, but poster paints are great! We could paint the bulletin board with bulletin colors, for easy app.

All the professional poster painters prefer-- 1 shot. Now let's paste up the brick walls tonight.

I have never been tasked with such a duty as sign painting. Actually pretty amazing considering the broad range of miscellaneous stuff I have to do at the spur of the moment. Many that are not what one thinks about in their every day lives, yet essential to the job at hand.

Is poster painting a specialty of sorts?

Many times I have seen a sign and thought "That could have been different, it does not fit the situation, or that the sign painting is perfect." Yet, I rarely discuss it with anyone.

Maybe you would be a good sign maker, it's the kind of job that utilizes a variety of talents.

Poster painting is not a specialty on it's own, but it belongs in the sign maker family. Posters and signs are rarely lettered with paint these days in commercial shops. It's just not practical, time wise. The paint is of course still utilized on walls, sign boards, light boxes, boats, and pinstripes, etc.

I also look at signs when I am driving down the road. I admire the nice work of others, and cry over the un-readable, the signs with no negative space.

That's funny. I get bored easily when I drive. So I compare signs or billboards against each other. It is the older less elaborate ones I pay more attention to. They require more creativity and attention to detail.:)

I have restored a few old marquee signs, and I always liked re-painting them and putting on new fresh neon, some of them are quite decorative. It is true though that generally less is more when it comes to signs.

We did a unit on signs & logos and whatnot as part of the degree I was gonna get- then deemed retarded and useless to late and am now forced... blah blah blah... either way, it was a cool class. I liked it- and got a surprisingly good grade- it shocked the shit out of me. I used to help make political signs when I was little- that was kinda cool. And sometimes it was an excuse to use spray paint. :D

AFter doing a great deal of study on Busybody, JamesbJohnson and the Jens I can't completely isolate what makes a poster special. I do know that it involves a lot of anger and usually posting nonsense.
