I don't buy Christmas presents

I give the kids money and that's extent of it. I can't remember when I quit. I just remember I sucked at it and it was really stressful because I needed everything to be perfect.

I do buy Christmas presents, but what I don't do is go to a mall or buy anything I've seen advertised.

I shop at the locally-owned shops in my neighborhood. Book stores and antique shops and art galleries. The people that own the shop live in my neighborhood and spend money in my neighborhood. They are my neighbors.

I will not buy a product made in China, owned by a billionaire who keeps his money in the Cayman Islands, and sold at a store whose business model is purposefully designed to destroy small businesses.

Fuck them. And fuck you if you give them your money.

It's nice that you can purchase books, hand transcribed by the monk down the street.

None of them advertise? That's a bold business move.

I buy all my gifts at walmart!:cool:

I made quite a few of my christmas gifts this year.

I made my mom a mickey mouse blanket and I made my boyfriend a stuffed chewbaca toy.

Then I made a bunch of candy and parceled it up for people.

Don't hate me because I shop at Wally World.

I like Wal-Mart. I can't stand Target or Meijer. Sams Club is decent, we don't have Costco. Sometimes I'll go to Kroger but they gotta have a sale. Their prices otherwise are obscenely high. Aldi's is good for some stuff but other stuff is at your own risk. I like Macy's and Saks, too.

We still have some small stores around town. There is enough business to go around, Wal-Mart hasn't run off everyone. We don't have a Sam's Club or a Costco, nor a Macy's or Saks. We do have a Penney's and Goody's for clothes. It's a nice size small town, close enough to larger cities like Springfield, Dayton and Columbus.

The city has plenty of small shops but I rarely go to them. Sometimes if they have something specific I need but otherwise I'm not gonna bother. In my town there isn't much except the dime store. I don't go there because it's kinda trashy even for a dime store. We also have a Family Dollar and Dollar General but they both suck except from some basic stuff in a pinch. I don't care to shop at either of those unless I really have to.
Gotta go to the city for pretty much everything else. If I'm going there then I'm doing one-stop shopping. I'm far too lazy to mess around with traffic just so I can spend more money on something I can get cheaper in the place I'm already at.

There's a little shop uptown that's owned and operated by the Gays. They sell kitchen gadgets and artsy stuff. I like to go in there and rub up against the bohemians every once in a while. I don't buy anything though. A fork is a fork is a fork.

Is that wierd?

Fork you.
:D

I suck at buying gifts. I have been told that I miss hints that are given through out the year, and this may be so. My brother and his wife are great at it and seem to always come up with a great gift idea.

I give gift cards and let them buy what they wont. Fuck all those damn crowds and shit.
