[I posted this in the Darkroom, but figure maybe that wasn't the appropriate place. Forgive me, I'm new...and please delete the other if one needs to go. Thanks!]

So, a few years ago my wife and I started a tradition that we've come to call “Trophy Wife Day”. I plan to post in detail in the future about what exactly Trophy Wife Day entails, but it essentially boils down to a day devoted entirely to her sexual objectification (to her great pleasure, I might add). I know there are likely some in the crowd that are offended by the notion of such a day, but I hope you'll reserve judgement – or perhaps first consider the type of life she must lead if we seem only able to find one day for that sort of thing each year.

Trophy Wife Day usually culminates the way you might expect it to, and usually, for us, that involves some lingerie. In the past, my wife has taken it upon herself to choose the lingerie – she has surprised me with something new every year – but this year I've decided to take on that responsibility, and present my favourites to her as Christmas gifts.

Now it's not that I've never purchased lingerie before, it's just that I've never felt completely comfortable in doing so. I'm guessing I'm not alone there, but I'll leave it to other men to speak for themselves. In any event, as I continue to try to improve myself as a man, I have decided that this is the sort of thing that one shouldn't fear. So today, I went and picked her out a few really sexy numbers, and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Perhaps the most enjoyment came from how I was treated by the women who tended to me at the store. They were very welcoming, helpful, and flirty. They made the whole thing fun.

So it wasn't until a few hours after I'd gotten home, and was reflecting on the experience, that I really started to think about those women. Anyone who knows anything about my sexuality knows that I am very cerebral. I like a woman with an active mind and an active imagination, and I'm always curious what's going on in her head when things start to get sexual. This natural tendency of mine has gotten me incredibly curious about the minds of the girls in the lingerie store. What do they think about when men come in to buy lingerie? To they laugh, inwardly, at our varying degrees of discomfort? Do they wonder what sort of woman we're buying for, and whether she'll even be interested in our purchases? Do they flirt because they feel it helps them make their sales, or do they do it because it's fun, and makes them feel sexy?

What do you think? Is anyone as intrigued by these sorts of thoughts as I am?

It's a job to them. They see you as a part of their commission check. Nothing more.

If you want to dress up in women's underwear, go ahead... you don't have to make up all sorts of stories and excuses... just do it.

Miss Oatlash and I have a fun hobby. We'll go to a lingerie store or a sex shop and she will try on things. She'll leave the changing room door open or walk out into the store with her beautiful bush showing or take off a blouse and put it back on the rack right in front of everyone.

And she will model something for me, then grab my crotch and ask loudly if it is getting me hard.

Gawd, I love it that she is such a show-off.

I used to work in a store that sold lingerie....

What do they think about when men come in to buy lingerie?
--nothing really. It's very common.

To they laugh, inwardly, at our varying degrees of discomfort? -no, because it's so common. And being polite and a bit uncomfortable is great-- what's awful are the ones who act like complete assholes or give off creepy pervy vibes. Even worse- the ones who come in with their wife/girlfriend to shop as a couple (we had a strict "one person only" policy for the change rooms for good reason).

Do they wonder what sort of woman we're buying for, and whether she'll even be interested in our purchases? --not really. They just hope you'll respect the exchange policy, and that your wife won't be in the following week trying to return a pair of panties (you'd be surprised at the things people try to return).

Do they flirt because they feel it helps them make their sales, or do they do it because it's fun, and makes them feel sexy? --probably because they are trained too- we were- although it does help pass the time if the man is pleasant and polite (and not assholey or pervy).

Thanks very much for the serious response. I guess it just seems to me like the sort of job that the right kind of woman could turn into a lot of fun if she wanted to.

To everyone else - I'm sorry this post wasn't your cup of tea. I am glad I gave you an opportunity to vent some of your insecurity, though. Thanks for your responses.

Men should never pick out lingerie.

This is true, for the most part. God invented gift certificates for lingerie shops.

I suppose, but it's not as exciting as you might think. The lingerie becomes mundane pretty quickly when it's your job. The other part of the place where I worked was a 'couples friendly/female positive' or whatever sex shop and it's the same with sex toys and porn.

Sometimes people imagine that girls who work in these places are more likely to fool around with customers or something, but I'd say the exact opposite is true. If anything, they are more conscious of maintaining boundaries and keeping everyone at arm's length.
