There's a lot of overcompensatin' conservatives here. Any threat, real or imagined, to the 2nd Amendment is a threat to their dimunative manhood.

I wonder if what they say is true
the size of the gun is directly proportional to the size of other things..
or lack there of..

if our gun nuts are any indicator, the proportionality is indirect.

Obama administration officials are deliberately keeping gun owners in the dark about the president’s gun-control agenda as we head into next year’s national election, because administration officials know that when NRA members and gun owners show up at the polls en masse, anti-gun candidates lose.

The Obama campaign’s strategy goes like this:

Neutralize gun owners and NRA members as a political force in the upcoming national election by pretending to be pro-gun or at least not focused on pushing a gun-control agenda;

With gun owners neutralized, Obama will be able to win the election. After the president is re-elected, he won’t have to answer to voters because he won’t have to face another re-election battle;

Launch a full-scale, all-out assault to rip the Second Amendment out of the Bill of Rights through legislation, litigation, regulation, executive orders and international treaties — in short, every lever of power at the administration’s disposal.

Barack Obama spent his entire political career proudly and publicly pushing for the most radical anti-gun positions you can imagine. He endorsed a total ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns. He opposed right-to-carry laws. He voted to ban nearly all commonly used hunting-rifle ammunition.

During the presidential primary debates, Obama even vowed to re-impose the discredited Clinton gun ban, which banned many commonly owned firearms used for hunting and self-defense.

Obama hasn’t had a sudden change of heart; rather, he’s making a purely political calculation by staying quiet on the gun issue until the time is right. In the meantime, he’s gearing up for his second-term assault on the Second Amendment in a number of ways.

Posting that doesn't make you sound any more sane.

Well they can try.. We love our guns here.. and are even thinking of getting our six year old daughter a 22. We have taught our kids gun safety.. Always treat a gun as it is loaded.. etc.. We take them target shooting etc. etc...

What people need to remember is.. guns don't kill people.. people kill people..

You know, as a gun owner, I find the fact that you "love" your guns a little disturbing.

I don't get the whole gun thing.

You've never spent an afternoon at a range, shooting skeet and clay pigeons, have you?

It's fun feeling the power released when one pulls the trigger, and very satifying to hit small moving targets from a distance. There is a very zen quality to it.

Not a big fan of using lethal force as a means of personal defence, mostly because I know myself well enough that I'd probably hesitate and end up killed with my own weapon, or worse, end up taking out an innocent bystander. Killing isn't easy or natural for most folks.

That's not to say I support disarming the populace. Far from it. If you don't trust a fellow citizen with the right to own a firearm, why the hell would you trust him with the right to vote?

In the end, a firearm is just a tool. It's the wielder that makes it's use good or evil.

What they say is, the size of the gun is inversely proportional, not directly proportional.

Gun control scares are a merchandising ploy. When sales are lagging, the gun lobby starts a new rumor. Gun manufacturers and dealers mop up.

Is it legle to give a 6 year old a loaded gun?

Well she wouldn't get to handle the gun with out us with her.. and at the gun range we do let her handle a loaded gun.. she know to hold the gun down.. and keep the safty on until your ready to site your target..

don't think we are just giving her a gun..with bullets and say.. okay sweety go on and play... I mean really... Here in alaska.. lots of kids go target shooting and hunting with their parents...

Is it legle to give a 6 year old a loaded gun?

as long as the child is properly supervised, yes (depending on local and state law).

I had my first shot gun at 6, and would go dove/quail hunting with my da and older sister.
then again, I was properly supervised and constantly monitored, as well as properly instructed on how to handle the weapon safely.

And I always drew cleaning duty afterwards, both the guns and the game.
