I think that is the result of being alert for danger. It reflects the intensity of life on operational deployment. In a way it explains why so many old soldiers describe war as one of the "best" periods of their lives.

It is the transition to normality that allows the damage caused during deployment to surface.

In his book "cooking, my way" (foreword by Carl Sagan) Stephen Hawking says that women should tied naked to the Aga and the timer should be set to zero, but running in reverse.

I like the tied naked to the aga part.

I like the tied naked to the aga part.

Carl Sagan insists that in such a situation, given an electrical charge of sufficient voltage applied to a moist part of the vagina, a spark can jump the females nipples and ignite the Aga. Steve has challenged Carl to demonstrate this effect during this years Royal institution Christmas lectures.
