So ok, It's me, wrong forum again.

I was wondering about the vote clearing. I have seen many, many posts (all over the place and in between) referring to it and it's horrors or awesomeness, etc.

This thread is not about that, not really, and I could care less about the actual scores, so please refrain from propagating:
I am questioning, in the most civil way, about how many votes are lost, or, have you lost a lot of votes? (Say, more than 10 in a day, and then again the day after?) I'm just wondering about the margins it happens in.

Recently, like in the past two weeks, a few of my stories have lost fifty votes, or more. With the continued voting since the 'cleanse', one of my stories actually went down in score. No biggie, it just seems kind of odd. The views on all of the stories are in the 10k-15k+ range. The votes on one story used to be over 170, two in the 150s, and the rest under one hundred, so they've been read, so to speak.

Now, here's the catch (always :) ): Two of the stories, that lost votes, but gained scores, were edited and resubmitted; the others were not. Would this matter?

Any comparisons, in the most civil way, would be great.

Six posted stories, and hundreds of lost votes between them in less than a month. Is this normal? Do they continue to randomly drop by large margins after a few months? Years?

I'm not worried, just wondering what happens to everyone else.
Thanks for any assistance.

That happens?

Well, I can say I appreciate the heads-up. I have no data for you, though (too new on the activity log).

I'm very curious about the "why", though, if there is one.

From what I can tell, and from what I have read from other users, is that it apparently is done to clear the spam votes, or that is the intent. It makes sense on one side, though the complaints would be understandable.

So...

I apparently lost so many votes, based on what others have posted elsewhere, from a Holiday Contest cleanse.

Questions answered.

Themed contest and monthly contest sweeps always hit across the board.

If you see a huge dip in your votes out of the blue, check the month of publication, then go to the "awards" forum and see if that month's winners were just announced. That's likely to be your next and most devastating sweep, because everyone who posted that month is a contestant, and all are swept with the bone-cutting contest knife.

What you've seen so far is just residuals from other stories being swept for contests, and the standard maintainence sweeps.
