Don't get me wrong, I have been visiting lit for a LONG time now, and I have posted a few stories (under different names) but I am not an erotic writter. Maybe it is just me, but I feel that even most of the "non-erotic" stories are still kind of borderline erotic/romance. Also from what I have read and seen (voting and comments) it doesn't seem like the non-erotic submissions get's the following as others. I guess what I am trying to hint at is there any other websites out there that flow toward more of the non-ertoic writters. I will still be faithfull to lit no matter what.

As another writer who favors romance over sex, I'd advise you not to worry too much about it. You'll have to put in a little action to keep the peanut gallery happy, but you can still get a dedicated following for stories that are more plot than porn. (This is easiest with romance, but if you're creative enough, you can also do it with fantasy, horror, or even satire.)

So long as you include a smidgen of homo worship in your story youre on safe ground. Theres so much Gaydar on LIT you can cook an ox with it. But a whiff is all your story really needs.
Great, then my stories are completly screwed! I was always told that you should write about the things that you know, and I have stuck by this rule for almost all of my stories, the others were great fails on my part and promised myself not to go back.
As for the "romance" in my stories I feel that Stephen King writes more interesting romace scenes in his books then i could in my short stories. I was brought up (call it old-fashion, stuck up, even prude) to never kiss and tell and what ever happens in a relationship should stay between those two people. I know that I am just writting stories and that the char. are make believe, but again "write what you know."
Guess I am just going to have to man up and say screw it and let my stories live. Thank you guys for the "feed back"

I think most LIT writers overdo whatever they write, and everything has an aroma of steroids driving it. Hemingway talked about it, that is...identifying the line tween one thing and another, note it, and move on.
I am not even a romance writter. I just like to write adventure, horror, dark humor and the likes. Most of the stories that I have posted on here have had negative reviews because "this is an erotic site and the non-erotic style should have romance" like everyone else has been saying. I was just wondering if there was an amateur writters' website that I guess has a following as lit.

You could try storiesonline.net (SOL). They have no rules on genre or anything else, and although a lot of what is posted there is erotica/porn, there's a lot that isn't.

I remember a Free Fall from years back and if memory serves, he is a she and a nice she at that.
I think as adults, we should avoid picking on simple typing errors and belittling someone and stick to the matter at hand and try to assist her in her quest for a site.
As for the question, I think Doc has the right idea and do a search on Google. I notice some good sites mentioned that are worth taking a look at.

If you do genre stuff it's probably best to post to a genre site if you want reads and feedback. You want your humor or horror or whatever read by people who are specifically looking for that kind of thing. Even though general sites have genre categories, a sci fi or romance fan isn't as likely to go to a general fiction site looking for his or her fix.
But no, in my experience you're not going to find another free fiction site as good as Lit in terms of the attention your stuff gets and amount and quality of feedback. Stories here get read and the readers here are opinionated and vocal. I've posted horror and sci fi to genre sites, and they pretty much sink without of a ripple. Throw in some sex and post them to Lit, and suddenly they're getting hits and comments.
I'm not sure what makes Lit so good. It could be that Lit's preeminence as an erotic story site attracts readers and writers who are serious about their porn, or it just could be something in the ambiance. But I haven't found another site as good.

No. The wares on LIT are mostly stale, use inferior ingredients, and come with a strong aroma. Otherwise they'd be sold. You know I'm right. I mean, the catalog of LIT stories is about as bad as a haystack of litter.
