Hello fellow Lit readers.

I am relatively new to this posting aspect of Lit and I have a few stories I have been thinking about posting. I have one in particular that I have written that is a non-erotic story but currently ends in a position where I can take it forward into an erotic setting or leave it where it is as a nice, short story. I was wondering whether or not people would be interested in reading it and letting me know what they think - writing style, the story itself and possible add-ins/endings to make it either erotic or leave it as is.

Please post or PM me if you're interested!

Why don't you just write it and post it? This is just a free-use site, not the New Yorker. And there's an appreciative audience here for just about anything.

I'd say if you're compelled to continue it, do so. If not end it, post it and move on to the next story. It's up to you.

Good luck with whatever you do. If you decide to let others read it, I think you'd post in story ideas - ?

Despite Lit being a mostly-erotic base for stories and a training ground for writers, you don't HAVE to leave an erotic story. There is a "non-erotic" section (although you might have to look carefully for it).

Perhaps you might consider making it in two parts, or chapters, the first plain, the second erotic. Worth consideration, perhaps ?

From what I can tell, there are "romantic" stories that have been posted that don't necessarily stress the erotic or sexual. As someone said, the best thing is to post it. I might suggest, but it's your call, that you put a forward to the story indicating that it is not a sexual story. I intend to do this with a multi-chapter book that I expect to submit soon. The first 4 chapters will be very graphic, but the last chapter is designed to address the ramifications of the actions in the first 4 chapters in a more serious emotional way. I figure that if I warn people who are only looking for sexual material, they won't be disappointed or irritated with me if they end up reading something that will shift away from the previous story line.

All in all, go for it. I believe that the purpose of writing anything, prose, poetety, anything, is to give part of yourself to others. It's a way of putting forth you own thoughts and feelings for others to see. It's up to them whether or not they find something to grasp onto. I heard Ricky Gervais the comedian say that he likes to do what he likes to do and let those who find it appealing enjoy it. He doesn't try to select an audience, he lets the aucience select him.

Good luck. Have fun. That's what it's all about.

On the other hand, if you have a nice, tidy story, why ruin it by tacking on an unnecessary and possibly gratuitous sex scene?

Story in erotica is usually there to provide a context for the sex and give it meaning, and the sex is there to resolve whatever conflict was presented in the story. If you've managed to present a problem and resolve it without the characters jumping into bed, then any sex you add would oribably feel gratuitous.

This, exactly.

thanks to everyone who posted, I have been unsure whether to change the ending or not, but I'm thinking it might be a short story for a non-erotic site

thanks people!

If you don't want to add an erotic part to your story then you need to find the targeted audience and post it somewhere in their reach. There are forums for most genres of books.

I personally like erotica and I can't even imagine writing anything else.

What's the story about?
