What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

Always smiling son. Do not mistake my demeanor for that of you liberals, who are all going to die too young and bitter.

You are seriously mistaken if you judge me as an angry person. Nothing could be further from the truth. I am a cold and calculating humorist/ provocateur . The trouble is, I'm only here to provoke liberals and other dummies, thus humoring myself, and tickling the funny bones of others only by mistake. :D

Uh huh.

I'll be blunt, if it wasn't for your skills with a camera, you'd be on my iggy list along with busy-douchebag and that wackjob of a bear.

He's just another Twinkies sucker. :D

Consider this a formal invitation to put me on your Iggy list. I'll even let you think my fucking feelings are hurt *sniff* Do it now or shut the fuck up.:D

Go ahead, you know you want to.:D

No way. It's too much fun being stuck in your craw.

Think of yourself as MY charity case. :D

Truth is Garb, the little bulls can't live a fulfilling Lit experience without us bigger bulls. They just can't admit the dependency.:D;)

There's a whole lot of bull right there.

You still don't get it son, you are but an aiming point in a target rich environment, not a chicken bone lurking in my soup.:D

I'll file this under "things v-man says to make himself feel better".

I'm surprised you'd be that shallow.

To paraphrase Laurel, "Your Lit. experience is what you make of it." Iggy is my shovel.

Ayers Admits To Obama Fundraiser That Obama Campaign Called ‘Myth.’ “In 2008 the Barack Obama for President campaign went into full denial mode accusing the McCain/Palin campaign of lying about a fundraiser held in domestic terrorist Bill Ayers’s home for Barack Obama’s Illinois State Senate campaign. Watch this clip from October 15, 2008 where spokesman Robert Gibbs flat-out denies the fundraiser story to an inquiring Chris Matthews. Then watch Bill Ayers, in his own words, admit to the event himself.”

What other stories that they denied, and the press dismissed, will turn out to have been true?

Your example is cronyism... plain and simple. It's horrible when it's done in the public sector, but you're fine with it in the private.

And what you fail to ascertain, is there is little difference between government and corporate powers... Yet you blindly support the latter, no matter what the cause.

In the private sector, the "cronies" pay the price for a failed enterprise.

When it is done in the public sector, We, the People, pay the price for the failed enterprise, not the people who foisted it upon us, they go upon their merry way and do it again.

You confuse blindly supporting just law and the rule of man. It is an egregious, highly obvious partisan error.

No, in he private sector, the failed enterprises just get rolled over into the next one... that's the way of he corporate american ponzi scheme... cook the books, pretend it's all better than it is, and invest in china with american tax dollars achieved by buying off legislators.

No further comment needed.

Hm, loos like a set of cut and paste quotes.

But obviously, it could be turned into a constitution, with a little work.

Oh wait. You folks already have one, and I've always been jealous of it.

Hm.

Patrick

It goes to the mindset of the Founders. They went from the tyranny of the King and Parliament to a Confederacy, which proved to be too weak, but at the same time, the Founders, as the quotes show, had a healthy fear of central government, this is chronicled in the first set of Federalist Papers.

The only way to understand what they did is to follow the writings in Federalist with copy of Constitution at the side for reference. It does not say, obviously, "We're Libertarians/Liberals/*fill-in-the-blank*" yet the entire document is a clear and concise outline for the role of a limited central government one whose main duty was external diplomacy, defense, and a limited set of necessary legal code to deal with the interactions and squabbles of the various states where the bulk of the power was to be held, for they wanted politics to be local where one has the advantage of having the ear of one's legislators and a thorough knowledge of their proclivities and leanings.

They were well aware of what could happen to the Republic and discussed the various Republics of ancient Greece and the modern Europe of the time and where each had failed and why. Therefore, it is hard to go through such a set of astonishingly well-written and interwoven articles and pull out a smoking gun, akin to pulling a thread for the Bayeux Tapestry and using it to describe the entirety of the art and story line.

It's not the stuff of a post, but the stuff of papers and books, but trust, or not, they had no love of central government, rather a healthy fear of it, and a true distain for the idea of "Democracy." It's mentioned four times in our Founding Documents, all in Federalist and not once with a positive connotation.

Why can't we do something simple and obvious, like an across the board 10% cut in all spending and an across the board 5% hike in all revenue sources? Whatever numbers make sense, I mean.

Because the Democrat Party and the Left is obsessed with social justice and group identity.

An across the board tax cut means that the rich do not pay their "fair share" and they will have none of that.

Watch their arguments. When they talk about raising the taxes on the rich, they score it statically, that is one dollar of tax equals one dollar of revenue. But when they talk about middle-class tax cuts, they score it dynamically and don't talk about a dollar for dollar revenue loss, but the effect of multipliers and spending that will increase revenue...

;) ;)

That's why they are currently waging war to have the payroll "tax cut" (even though statically, it reduces SS revenues), because the middle class spends its money wisely while the upper class "hoards" it, like Scrooge McDuck, a swimming vault full of ill-gotten and illegal gains.

Just look up a couple of posts there to my conversation with Richard and you will see the unbridled hate and envy the Left has towards the "rich" and "corporations..."

It would be nice if you supplied sources for these stories.

I think this must be your source: http://nation.foxnews.com/bill-ayer...s-obama-fundraiser-obama-campaign-called-myth

As far as I can see this is an entirely spurious story about events that were well-known a long time ago but for some reason have been dredged up again now. A former terrorist who became a responsible citizen, Bill Ayers had a passing friendship with Barack Obama, and Ayers hosted a fundraiser for him.

You know, sometimes people in the public eye have representatives who think they should initially deny any dodgy allegation about them. This happens on all parts of the political spectrum. I wouldn't hold it against Cain, Cameron, Sarkozy.

It doesn't cause anyone to suffer.

Ease up. This happened ages ago and didn't cause a gnat's bite of suffering to anyone.

I just don't get this over-statement stuff. 'Simply unable to govern in the process'. You have a good democratic system. It stutters along sometimes. You will have good government, not necessarily of your choosing, but that's democracy for you.

I heard communism with a large or small C has largely ceased to be a threat to capitalism. You heard different?

The only way he is going to win is through the process of demonization and deep division.

If his coat tails do not carry the House and the Senate, then he will be immediately lame-ducked and surrounded by nothing but enemies with power.

Has it? or does it just change its name to something more "Libertarian" sounding...

Oh right, you think communism is still lurking out there cunningly disguised as something else.

Every belief I suppose has to have an Other, some enemy it believes is lurking out there. It seems particularly prominent among Puritan Americans, for which I suppose the source is the belief in the devil, or the fear of the native American, the dangerous Other who really had the right to the land till you brought your lawyers in.

You ever see Arthur Miller's play 'The Crucible'? I believe Miller is more honoured over here than in his native country, but I felt it had some insight.
