Dear pretentious restaurateurs,

Please stop charging more for ever smaller and smaller portions, and calling them 'Tapas'.

Thank you,

A hungry man, and a fine figure of a man at that.

I hate pretentious places because I go out to eat so that I am no longer hungry. I do not go out to eat so that I can pay a fortune and still be hungry. I know this is a popular thing with people because they are stupid but it's not for me.

Let's be honest - Tapas' are just over-priced appetizers, sold as an entree because the owner is cheap and the chef is lazy.

Supersize femme!
I live in the best fed nation on earth. I see no reason not to take advantage of that. If the time ever comes when food is scarce then I want to be able to look back and say "Remember that bloomin' onion? That was awesome."

Tapas are from Spaniards who go "bar hopping" and eat these hors d'oeuvres in the time between finishing work and having dinner.

Kind of like sushi... its not the meal.

I don't know what a bloomin' onion is, but I'll look fondly upon scotch eggs past.

I do not care for onion. I prefer them sauteed to the point of glassiness so as to be rendered invisible to my eyes.

I can understand that. I know a few people like that. Personally I love onions. I eat them raw whenever I'm cooking with them. I'll eat green onions straight from the ground in my garden. Good stuff.

You should wash them first, that dirt is gritty.

This^^

Cover them in batter and deep fry them? That's just gravy.
Oooh! Gravy.

There's high-end to low-scale tapas places, they're never exclusively upscale. At least here it's like that.

If it's a pricey restaurant, order tapas when you're in a group of people along with two or three sizeable entrees, get a bottle of firewater, share everything and then split the diff. It's meant to be shared, anyway.

Morton's has tiny hamburgers for happy hour appetizers that are quite tasty.

I've had those, they're pretty good.

Tapas was a big hit in Barcelona. With a table for four, order 8-10 and share...worked out pretty good.
