Because I have literally no formal training in maths higher than basic arithmetic, I have no idea how to solve problems in algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus.

Could a math-savvy person please answer a few questions?

Why are letters used instead of numbers? What do they mean?

In higher maths such as calculus, what do the greek symbols like sigma, psi, and omega denote?

What kind of math is given to non-science majors in college? Is this math particularly difficult?

In your opinion, what is the most difficult and perplexing branch of mathematics?

lol if math isn't your thing you might want to go for a non science major. Liberal arts? History? Any science major is going to require math (usually a pretty intense math based class) at some point.
