Well, I just wanted to say HELLOOOO I MISSED EVERYONE and didn't want to hone in on anyone's thread...so I made my own.

AH...ok..***** is pretty crazy sometimes, huh?

So lets see

1. I cut my hair and it's now pretty short.
2. I got rid of the glasses and got contacts.
3. I'm getting divorced.
4. Bought some new shoes last week.

What's going on with you guys?

What I would like now is to have everyone post their news too...and I should add I have a new kitten. He's really cute, the result of a slutty pure-bred Himalayan and the neighborhood bad boy.

Now everyone tell me how they started life over mid-40's and it all worked out JUST FINE!

You'll be fine SB. Not saying it will be easy, but you'll get through it. I've known lots of folks who've started over at 40...or later.

I kind of had a feeling it might end up that way. Are you getting some counselling? What's your support network like (friends, family, etc)?

ETA: And to answer your question from my thread...

I'm...the same old me. Writing, building, traipsing around the globe here and there. Right now I miss living on a tropical island, even if the carrots were bendy now and then. LOL.

I've got a new kitten, too. As for starting life over at 40, I don't know if that is one of the years or not, but I've re-invented myself a number of times.

I didn't start over but 40's was an awakening for me that was great in many ways.

I have a buddy who had to start over at 50 and is MUCH happier now!

Starting over at 40? Hell, I'm 60 and I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up.

You'll be fine, as everyone has said. I'd wear shoes, though, as the path can be kind of rocky in places. But you'll get there.

Good to see you wandering back in, too, Samantha! (I've enjoyed that name for years and years, back to Liz Montgomery's days in "Bewitched," lol!)

I have to agree with MWY. I'll be 62 in just a couple of days, and I re-started my life - for the umpteenth time! - just two years ago, moving >1000 miles away to live with a new person in a state I'd never even *visited* or driven through before. I kept the same job - there are definite benefits to working as an independent contractor from home - but changed just about everything else in my life. You can do what you set your mind to do, and your mind is strong enough to carry you wherever you want to go.

Welcome back! Please post pictures of your new kitten, sounds adorable!

I didn't start all over after age 40 but got a new job in a new state with a new house and new stresses.

My newest news is my dominant has taken on a second submissive so I get to learn to share. Lucky me. LOL (actually it's going pretty well, she is a wonderful woman, just a big adjustment for me)
