Transgendered Lady Arrested for Being Topless

This chicky is in the middle of gender-reassignment surgery, and went to change her driver's license from "male" to "female" so that it would, you know, be accurate, I'm guessing as an ID. That's kind of important if you want to drive, get into clubs, buy things you have to be an adult to buy, ect. Well, the DMV douchebags wouldn't change it for her, so she walked outside to the parking lot and took her shirt off. She was arrested for indecent exposure of her breasts, even though the state said that male toplessness was legal and treated her, even in the police reports as male. This is an example of douchebagginess at it's finest and I thought that y'hall might be interested. I was like, WTF? Pick one or the other, government.

I remember when the rule changed, and some people were in such a tizzy about it, expecting hoards of young mothers to show up topless to collect their kids from school or something. Heh. I guess they're probably mostly over it by now.

I have always wondered about this! I've even asked a transgendered woman who didn't know.
When is a boob a boob? I've seen hairy guys with moobs (bigger than my boobs) topless. Why don't they need to cover up?

I just thought it was odd that the fucking state couldn't pick a gender. If they want her to be a lady because of the boobies, and arrest her for indecent exposure (which has now and always has seemed rather sexist to me- especially since women are the only gender that can breastfeed and therefore the only gender who have a reason to be topless in public) then they should have changed her license. If they want to count her as a man, then let her flaunt 'um. Like other people have posted, there are plenty of men with 'man boobs'- I'm just not getting the state's logic on this one.

I do think that it was a genius and brave thing to do, though.

Definitely genius. If nothing else it will draw needed attention to the issue. I'm sure that there are more than a handful of expensive lawyers willing to take this case pro-bono just for the fact that it could be a milestone case.
