Hello. My first post, please be gentle.

I wrote a series of stories over the last few days. I had a few questions about submitting them here.

- Is this a safe place to post them? I have various levels of identity shielding on here, but has anyone been "outed" as an author on Literotica? I read the stuff here for a long time, but that's a lot more anonymous than writing. I don't want this to haunt me.

- They kind of went places I didn't expect. I guess I was more repressed than I was admitting. Once I gave myself the freedom to write whatever I imagined, it turned out I imagined some pretty fetishistic stuff. In fact they're kinda hard to read in places (just gross) although also weirdly hot. Is this a normal thing to happen? It's kind of shaken me a bit.

- I don't quite know what category they would belong in. They're about a guy who's sitting home one night, and suddenly women start showing up (one at a time, over the course of a couple days), and seem to feel compelled (during darkness only) to stay with him and do as he says. Is this mind control? There are scenes where they're not under compulsion (daylight)... [if they ever were]. Do I post the whole lot under mind control? There's also variously: lesbian sex, interracial, masturbation, compulsion, anal, toys, femdom, pissing, deflowering, and a mother/daughter forced scene. Still all mind control, since they're mostly under whatever influence he might have?

- Is this just too weird to post...? I admit I tended to read a couple of the "safer" categories rather than this sort of thing, and I'm not sure I want to push myself to read other stuff like this now, if it exists.

- Is this gonna get me a bunch of mail from scary people? Scary women would be bearable, scary guys is just... well scary.

I have seven(ish) chapters for a total of about 22k words.

I guess I'm just looking for some reassurance from wiser heads than mine.

Thanks.

Welcome to the AH. As for your questions?

I have never heard of anyone being outed, unless they somehow did it themselves.

As for your stories and category, that can be tricky. A lot of it sounds like fetish.

You have to decide which act "trumps" which. For instance forced mother/daughter has to go in incest. Only incest fans will deal with that. You put it anywhere else you are looking to get seriously flamed.

The others sound like common sense. Interracial should go there. Femdom most likely BDSM or maybe Non consent. any type of golden shower or anything beyond the norm is fetish.

I'm sure others with a lot more experience than I have will chime in and go a little further, but that's some basic info.

One more thing. Don't worry about Scary men and women none of your stories will please everyone and the Trolls attack regardless of what you do. Just write what you want and have fun. Praise is great but sometimes the abuse can be fun too. Especially if you're into some good old fashioned S&M;)

The best way to stay anonymous is to never, ever post anything in the Author's Hangout that says anything about your personal life. It's a good way to start and if you are in a sensitive occupation, like elementary school teacher, it's a good way to stay. Generally, staying away from other authors is another good way to stay anonymous.

Staying anonymous is a pretty good idea but there are some of us who have met and know who each other is and rather a lot about each other. We guard that knowledge carefully and rarely mention the fact that we are personally acquainted, at all.

All that being said, I am aware of only two authors who have suffered from being associated with Lit. Most of the rest of us merrily carry along with out lives with no blowback whatever. It's a fun group . . . most of us. Of course there are a few trolls . . .

If you're not sure what category to post your story in, Erotic Couplings makes a good catchall. And you don't get flamed the way you can in Loving Wives or in Incest. Most of us recommend that you avoid those categories altogether unless you really find watching the feeble minded explode amusing. Some people don't understand the concept of "fiction" I guess.

Other than that, just follow the sites guidelines and you should be fine.

Oh, and welcome to the AH.

Thanks for the welcome. It's a little bit complicated because as it's currently divided, the different "classes" of act aren't well-separated. There's a definite mix, especially in the later scenes where a lot is going on. I couldn't really cut it up any finer, because it's so interleaved.

Thanks for the welcome and the honest response. Two writers is I guess a tiny fraction next to how many authors there are... Still, I will think about it carefully. I don't want to screw up my life, not even if it's part of some kind of journey.

I can post a story with basically anything in it to Erotic Couplings? I always pictured that as more.... consensual. I'd rather not mix categories since as a reader I tend to miss stuff flitting by if it's in a ton of categories.

Suppose you had a bunch of women you could do anything to, what would you do? - that's the basic premise. I thought Mind Control would be the right home (I thought I had read some stuff in mind control that went beyond the usually comfortable - there's a famous MC story that starts with his mother blowing him if I remember - and I've seen MC break into gay sex before too though that was unexpected).

Are there guidelines somewhere that I missed on the category types?

Take care assuming that it's OK to put anything in Erotic Couplings, it's not really a catch-all category, especially putting your chapters with pissings, femdom, forced sex and any shade of gay or incest. The readers of that category will punish you severely if you surprise or repulse them like any other category would if you submit your stories in the wrong category.

It is better to split them up. Your author's page will automatically put your chapters in different categories under the same series if you name and chapter them sequentially, i.e. "Once Upon A Time Ch 01", "Once Upon A Time Ch 02", etc.

I write mid-list novels in the mainstream for an audience that probably would be aghast to know I write erotica too (with the same urge to do so you noted in the OP). (I also write different genres of erotica under different names that seem best to keep separate.) I haven't seen any hint of being outed or identified by either side of the audience (even though I've used some of the same basic plots in both venues). So, if you don't tell or give into the challenge of some here to either out yourself or capitulate to their declarations that you therefore can't have had an interesting life or write what else you write, you should be OK.

On where to post, I suggest you complete it all and then post each chapter to the category it fits--using the normal formulation of title (common title slug plus Ch. 01, 02, etc). There are a couple of other thread discussions going on this issue at the moment that you might want to review. From what you described Erotic Coupling does indeed seem the best overall choice if you want to do it all within one category.

The plot idea sounds interesting.

The feedback is seriously my favorite part about submitting here. The good, the bad, the ugly - it's a good feeling knowing someone read what you had to say. Getting weird feedback is fun.

As for stories going in a strange direction, those are my favorite to read. When a story makes my jaw drop I make sure to let the author know of this achievement. The site lets you stay anonymous. Just don't out yourself and your deepest, darkest secrets will be safe here.

I'm relatively new too and it's a blast. Hope you have fun :)

Is it safe to post here? It’s a fair question.

I’ve been posting here for a couple of years. At least a couple of years. And I’m pretty sure that most people still don’t realise that my real name is Kurt Vonnegut. Oh well.

But if you’re of a mind, you can ‘meet’ people here. And if you do meet other Litsters, then how much (or how little) you choose to share with them is largely up to you. Largely.

One person I met here I now count as a good friend. A rather special friend. She knows that I’m not really Sam Scribble. She knows that I’m really Kurt Vonnegut. She also has a pretty good idea of my shoe size. (Hint: it’s somewhere between seven and eight.) But I’m pretty sure that she wouldn’t share this information with anyone else.

Welcome to the AH.
