What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

Only the terminally naive can believe that Cuba has a superior health care system. When Castro himself has to come to the U.S. to get his battered sphincter fixed, and then off to Venezuela to be treated for cancer.

Anthony Daniels MD went to Cuba a few years ago, to see OwebamaCare for himself.

In a nutshell the peasants go to their local clinic, add their name to the clipboard list, and check back daily. The 'doctor' is usually a kid with a first aid card and lotsa aspirins. The kid with the 1st Aid Card and bicycle serves several clinics.

In North Korea the 'doctors' are really actors, as are perfessers and engineers etc. The stores are stages with props. Theyre stocked with stuff but you cant buy any of it.

I'm not sure if your a ignorant man, alocholic, or chose to be blissfully stupid.

when did you create this thread? and here we are today....

Stock Futures Point to Sharply Lower Open Amid Europe, U.S. Debt Woes

Stock futures pointed to a sharply lower open for equities on Wall Street on Monday, with futures for the S&P 500, the Dow Jones and the Nasdaq 100 down 1.1 to 1.4 percent

YES, we need more spending and borrowing, we need more government workers and more entitlements. WE CAN BE LIKE GREECE!

With the Dow climbing near 10,000 again what's happened to all of the dire, end of the world ravings of our resident "conservative" economists?

Where is all of this inflation we were warned about? According to reports the Consumer Price Index is down 1.5% overall from last year. Despite Augusts increase in prices, gasoline is still down 30% from the high a year ago.

Despite the dire warnings of some of Lit's resident math wizards the Chinese are still very much interested in buying US Treasury securities.

I guess the sky isn't falling after all.

Evidence always welcome.

I read the article by Anthony Daniels MD, here: http://www2.fiu.edu/~fcf/cubashealthfalse.html

I can't see that he claims to have been to Cuba at all. I can't see that he makes any of the claims you make. He makes some other claims, mostly about the statistical likelihood of Cuban health since 1960.

You have some other source about what he knows?

Watching the lunatic fringe here cheer when the DOW is down and then say, "it doesn't matter" when it's up is a telling sign of how wishy-washy these chumps are.

Economists more bleak about US economy

WASHINGTON (AP) - Fewer U.S. companies expect to hire new workers in coming months, as business economists grow increasingly pessimistic about the overall economy's growth in the coming year.

Nearly 85 percent of economic experts surveyed expect the economy to grow at a meager 2 percent or less over the next 12 months, according to the National Association for Business Economists. In July only 23 percent of the survey's respondents predicted such slow growth.

Additionally, the number of companies that plan to hire more workers fell from 42 percent to 30 percent, while the number of companies laying workers off rose. The group reports that 13 percent of respondents have reduced their staff, up from 8 percent in July.

Cap and trade is an environmental policy tool that delivers results with a mandatory cap on emissions while providing sources flexibility in how they comply. Successful cap and trade programs reward innovation, efficiency, and early action and provide strict environmental accountability without inhibiting economic growth.
