Just FYI for anyone who had something published with Aspen Mountain Press, or was trying to get something published with them and, of course, was unaware of this:

I was just sent this link regarding the current situation with AMP.

Aspen Mountain Press was an e-book publisher of romantic erotica, hetero and gay. I had a book with them that I co-authored with Tom Collins, but have not heard from them in a while and had assumed it was simply that the book was no longer selling. Now, I'm not so sure.

Thanks for posting this. It's too bad. Aspen Mountain had a good catalog of books. I don't think Victoria Strauss is too much with it in her discussion of small presses, though. It seems like she had small print presses in mind, not e-book publishers. I wonder what she would think a bigger essentially erotica e-book publisher was than Aspen Mountain.

I thought enough of this publisher that I had discussions with them some months back both to publish something with them and edit for them, but then another publisher I work with took off in sales and offerings and I let AM discussions lapse.

A reason to self-publish perhaps?

Sorry for the hassle to you and others.:(

I did how ever find a nugget of inspiration from your time sink. :D

I checked the Smashwords site and found a link to this place, which is erotic Adult and nasty stories. :D

The list of books were 'general pulp' fiction and I found this one for a light read.

Here are two erotic comedies by bestselling author Lorelei James. Ride em’ cowboy!

Mistress Christmas

...all signs point North for not-so-Saint-Nick A part of the Wild West Boys series. In a rare moment of recklessness, mild-mannered accountant Holly North lets her best friend guilt her into filling in as Mistress Christmas at Sugar Plums, a Christmas-themed strip club. Fearing she'll be recognized-or worse, considered a fraud-she dons a velvet mask along with the Mrs. Claus-meets-dominatrix costume. She's shocked at how deliciously wicked anonymity feels. Detective Nick West is determined to discover how his friend was supposedly robbed after a lap dance at Sugar Plums. His visions of revenge vanish faster than a flying sleigh upon his first peek at Mistress Christmas-a leggy brunette with smoky eyes and a lush mouth begging for hours beneath the mistletoe. Their attraction flares hotter than a fireplace on a cold winter evening, and Nick is only too happy to oblige when Holly blurts out her one Christmas wish... For a naughty secret Santa to sweep her away for a night of anonymous sexual pleasure. Warning: This erotic comedy contains naughty holiday innuendo, creative use of garland, sexy love scenes hot as spiced cider, a heroine as sweet as sugared plums, and a wildly romantic hero with a great big...candy cane.

Miss Firecracker

She's the match, he's the fuse...an explosive combination Wild West Boys, Book 2 One year ago Willow Gregory entered the Miss Firecracker contest on a dare-and ended up with the crown. As a working carpenter, she's not exactly the tears-and-tiara type, and after a year of walking the straight and narrow she's ready to cut loose. Waking up in a sexy stranger's bed with no memory of the havoc she wreaked the night before wasn't quite what she had in mind. Nor was agreeing to his mandate-work for him at the tavern until she repays the damage. Or go to jail. Blake West thinks he could possibly be the only man alive who could say no to a drunken, horny, naked beauty queen. There's something about the former Miss Firecracker that makes him want to blow his Mr. Nice Guy persona all to hell. It helps that Willow is ready to dive headfirst into a no-heartstrings-attached affair. Which fits in perfectly with Blake's temporary gig managing his friend's bar. Every grinding kiss, every stolen touch leads to another...until a harmless little white lie becomes the detonator that could explode their chances at a happily ever after.

I'll bet these could be a good read. :D

These were the best of the blurbs I read. It seems that the author-publisher understood the role of an intriguing blurb. Sounds like she could be here?:D

Isn't Lorelei James one of the owners of the erotica e-book distributor Allromanceebooks.com? It's either that or Bookstrand. I've seen her name in several e-mail exchanges with one of my publishers.

If she were here, there's a clique here that would run her down for being successful at marketing (when they aren't). ;)

Yeah, I had a couple of books with them. Two recently went out of contract and I got the rights back no problem. The other two I asked for rights to be returned to me when the contracts expired. Which resulted in the books disappearing from distribution and no reversion of rights letter.

Personally, Aspen Mountain Press is the reason I don't write any more. Writing is just another business which means its full of egoists and fools who really have no interest in getting good product to market. I don't have enough time left in my life to waste with people like that.

Indeed, when my co-author proposed going to AMP for our book, I asked around and AMP had a stellar reputation. It looks like one of those situations where it was all good and honorable...until the temptation to embezzle (for whatever reason) got to be too much for the one with access to the money.

I feel very bad for the authors who didn't get paid and likely won't get paid.
